  • I made different ones over the years. My son had a chocolate cake in the shape of a 1 for his first. Then he’s had a lions head, pool table, ice cream cake, pavlova etc
My daughter was never much into cake, so her 1st birthday was a chocolate self saucing pudding. She’s also had carrot cake, caramel slice, cheesecake ect
Depends on what they fancied at the time as to what I made

  • For my son’s first and second birthdays I made Betty Crocker vanilla cupcakes and decorated them. For his first birthday I looked online for inspiration to make Cookie Monster cupcakes and they were very affective. I used some ready roll black icing for circle shaped pupils and semi-circle mouth, White choc buds for the eyes and piped bright blue icing all over. For extra affect I used mini chocolate chip cookies broken in half and placed in the mouth.
His second birthday we were away for so I just decorated cupcakes with Thomas & friends flags and paper patty pans.

  • I made a butter cake for my daughters birthday. Her birthday is on the 27th December so this was an ideal cake I could make ahead of time and freeze and the defrost and decorate the day before. With a semi frozen cake it makes it easier to cut if need be too.

  • I made an ice cream cake and added chopped lollies to the slightly melted ice-cream as I made it, kids loved it, just put it in a silicone mound to set

  • My son wanted icecream cake for his birthday this year but generally I make either a Jewish cake or chocolate cake.

  • I make my special chocolate rich cake. Easy to make and everyone loves it. I will have to post it. I just change the pan size according to how many are coming. And they also make great muffins. The cake with the number 3.

  • I made a 4 layer fruity cake. I wanted it to be colourful, but didn’t have any food dye! Used mango for one layer, blueberries for another, strawberried for another and something else. Can’t remember off the top of my head. Also made for some interesting textures in the layers.

  • Sorry, forgot to add photo!!

  • We made a “Messy Cake” for my daughters 4th birthday. She had a party at the Messy Shed in Mornington, VIC – a sensory play centre where they get all messy and have a ball! The cake was just chocolate sponge, I bought black ready to roll icing and fluro food colouring. We then made a big mess in the kitchen literally throwing the icing on the cake :) Lots of paper up on the walls to stop the icing going everywhere.

  • when he was 1, my sons father made a Thomas the tank cake. for his 2 to 5 year birthday cakes it was just cakes from the shop, his 6th cake I made with just a packet cake in the shape of 6. his 7th was made by my mom and it was a tram cake and a number 7. his 8 I made from a packet and had trains on top, his 9th was a monster truck race course made by someone, 10 and 11th birthday were made by other people, and they were the Adelaide tram, and the Adelaide jumbo train. Not sure what will be for his 12th.

  • For my sons birthday last year I decorated the Bulla ready to decorate ice cream cake for one celebration as our guest didnt eat cake. And at another celebration my best friend who is a baker/cake maker made a chocolate mud Train cake.

  • I made a banana cake with all beautiful organic ingredients and covered it with raw chocolate. For my eldest I made paleo single meringue pies, for my other girl I made a pastry pie filled with homemade organic custard and fruits and cheese cakes are always a hit here too.

  • This year I made a cake with Kit Kat and Maltesers.

  • Last year I made my daughters a Frozen cake, a cupcake queen Shopkins cake and my youngest had a woodland themed cake. This year so far I’m making a Monsters inc cake for my 3 year old next month. ????
