Hello!

I know that there are heaps of questions about parents returning to work and working from home. My question is a little different though. I would like to know if any parents out there know of jobs that do not have standard business hours. I’m not looking for party plans. I’m after the kind of job that can be done after my husband gets home from his day job. So he works the during the day Monday to Friday and I could work nights and weekends. I know there’s night fill for supermarkets but what else operates out of hours that I could do whilst my family sleeps?

  • Typing or editing essays, ironing. Some organisations (like survey organisations) may need people to do phone interviews out of hours when people are home.

  • It is possible to find typing jobs for law firms, hospitals, etc. You just need to be able to type at a reasonable speed. I used to work from home for a while- it was great and I know the firm that I worked for had a night shift.

  • If you are after night shifts then maybe hotel/restaurant industries, post office mail jobs, call centre jobs , airport etc .. look up night shift jobs in the job websites .

  • I used to do some cleaning and also a bit of shelf stocking. I loved it as it was great for mine and hubby’s situation plus I enjoyed the peace and quiet. Not to mention the pay was mighty fine

  • Cleaning jobs are mostly after hours. Shelf stackers in supermarkets. Night clubs

  • Night time receptionist at golf clubs or hotels.

  • party plan or shelf packing?

  • Learn to swim instructors and fitness instructors can work those hours.

  • waitress, shop work (IGA, Bunnings etc), medical centre receptionist. Swimming pool/leisure centre staff. Hospitals, dog shelters. What do you like doing or are you trained to do, I would suggest finding something that you would enjoy especially if you are planning on working nights and taking care of children during the day.
Anywhere that is open in the evening will require staff.

  • yeah cleaner, get a job with a resturant. they work late and you will start around 4-5-6-7 depending on the business.

  • Look for online data entry jobs? Most r set up from at home offices

  • Nursing homes, service stations, hotels etc are always looking for night staff. I used to work in a nursing home doing night shift while my husband worked during the day.

  • There are cleaning jobs that clean offices after hours.

  • i think there are cleaning jobs with different hours

  • try looking into something like freelancer.com or even stocking shelves in store like Coles, Target, Kmart etc
