Hello!

What type of paint do you recommend to use for painting walls and ceilings? Something you can clean with small kids?

  • Gloss or semi gloss would be my go. You could ask advice at Bunnings

  • A semi gloss paint is probably the best for wiping down.

  • I second wash and wear. It really is amazing stuff and it still looks like new despite having the kids!

  • yes i was going to suggest dulux but it has already been suggested a few times

  • Thanks for all your ideas and thoughts!

  • There is special paint specially made for ceilings. It is thick so that it doesn’t drip.
There is some paint known as Wash& Wear. Even if the can says only one coat needed I usually give the surface 2 coats, especially exterior doors. It gives more protection and as they are usually painted with a brush it covers brush marks from the first coat. Some marks are easily washed off by dampening some clean rag ( or other fabric) and rubbing it with enough pressure to remove them. Only allow your children to have washable markers or crayons. They wash off easily if you find it before it dries too much. It will also come off vinyl flooring with a wet cloth.

  • Really nice paint ideas being writing them down for my husband so we can start thinking about it soon.

  • I use a washable paint on the walls having children. The ceiling gets done with a paint that goes on pink and dries white. That way you can tell where youve painted

  • Dulux wash and wear in a flat low sheen

  • We used glossy paint a few years back and walls are very easy to keep clean.

  • I need his advise our walls are covered in finger prints etc and no matter how much i clean them it just rubs the cheap paint work off. Take the advise of real people not sales people thats where we went wrong.

  • I painted the interior of my home about three years ago and it still looks good. I used Dulux Interior for the walls and Taubman’s Ceiling paint. Make sure your paint has microban (?) which is a mold deterrant. I bought all my paint from Home Hardware and asked for their advice before buying the paint.
