  • It was different for us with each child – but between 7 and 10 months.

  • 12 months according to the SIDS guide lines, I’m going to start to transition from 12 months into his own room as my sons a terrible sleeper

  • For SIDS I’m pretty sure it’s 6 months in the same room as parents. Obviously that’s a minimum so you could wait until 12 months.

If your kid is a good sleeper there’s no real need to rush. My daughter was a terrible sleeper so when we moved house when she was 9 months old we put the cot in her own room. Which has definitely helped a little.

The transition to their own room can be a little bit of a backslide too. They can no longer smell you close by so they may be restless. Plus there’s new sounds and smells etc. Mt daughter is one now and Im thankful she has her own room. It helps with bedtime routine and consistency.

  • The guidelines say 12 months but there are obviously a lot of personal factors involved.

  • I would love to help with this I would say if their ready you will know and just give them creature comforts and give them time in their own room during day time and give them a chance to get used to having their own room…..

  • I had my little one in a bassinet and then when he was ready I transitioned him into his own cot
