If you are looking for free or inexpensive places your local council may have a list. Yo could try googling to see if you can find places to go. If you have a Govt. Tourism place you may be able to get details from them. Depending on the age of your children there is places like the Museum. We have one in Adelaide. They only charge to go into special displays that aren’t normally there in Adelaide. Hopefully there is one in Melbourne. If the children are old enough to watch something being made you may find some that you can view from a distance or some do guided tours. I don’t whether or how much the fee is for them. Some also have age restrictions – often for safety reasons. You could be “sneaky” and go into a travel agent, find out about some places – don’t make a booking and go there on your own if you want to. Be aware that some places only allow tour groups in. You may be able to enjoy time at a National Park. Do not take pets with you – some people think they can. Some places where you can buy bus tickets to use in CBD, metro areas or not too far away have travel brochures in them. You can get wonderful ideas from them.
