I’ve tried all the things suggested from time to time! From rearranging items when no one is looking, to letting the kids have their own corner where they do their own small tree and other christmas stuff as they like. I think by the end of the season we are all sick of christmas stuff and just want it cleared up and put away, so it doesn’t last long.
Look, I would love a beautifully decorated, stylish tree. I wind up with a lopsided tree, bald in places and over decorated in others, adorned with ornaments made with wildly varying degrees of skill. I figure I will enjoy THIS kind of tree for a few years, and one day when the kids have moved out I can have the other kind. And I’ll probably mourn this one.
Cannot deal with kids decorations and they mayhem. My 5yo boy has a tree of his own and he makes his own decorations doing it how he likes and the family tree is all mine, except the star he helps put on
We love to decorate the Christmas tree and as long as it is overflowing with decorations that have meaning I do not mind. Love everyone to be involved with decorating the tree.
I do! I am a perfectionist and love my tree to look immaculate, but at the same time I know how much kids love doing it, and how much I loved helping do it when I was a child, so I think sometimes we just have to remember that, and put our OCD aside to make the kids happy. After all it has been decorated with love and it makes me smile when I look at it
I had no issues with the children helping to decorate the tree. I loved all the little handmade decorations and the fact most of them were hung low on the tree. Before you know it they are grown and not interested in helping… It becomes a sad job to do by yourself
