Why does my 1 year old fall asleep everywhere but her cot?

Hello!

Hi Mouths of Mum’s, I’m hoping some mum’s may be able to offer a little bit of advice; I have a 1 yr old who will fall asleep everywhere but her cot, and when my husband or myself move her in to her bed (which is still in our room) she will wake instantly and have a look of fear in her eyes and will cry until she is sick. Is this just separation anxiety or could it be something more? My husbands father passed away 2 1/2 weeks ago and my daughter started this the night before the funeral just under 2 weeks ago.

I would try and make the bed different feel for her maybe the sheets are cold try and make it feel safer feeling and snuggly.

Perhaps a good time to try them in their own room so that there is a change which might snap them out of it?

If she falls asleep that is a good thing? My daughter falls asleep on the floor cuddled up to teddies, we just leave her there.

I don’t think she would know the difference of the pa dying but. They can pick up on the tension. Maybe she can feel ur sadness?

Babies can pick up on your emotions, so she can probably sense your sadness.. I hope things are going better now

Maybe try singing to her and rubbing and patting her back just keep trying don’t give up, best of luck
