Mum seriously thinks she has the right to be upset when her unvaccinated child doesn’t receive a party invite.

On a recent Reddit thread doctors were asked to share their worst experience with anti-vaxxers, one mother decided to tell her infuriating story.

She explained that when she was organising a birthday party for her child, she decided not to invite an unvaccinated girl because she could compromise the health of another guest who recently had cancer. She explained the situation nicely to the child’s mother who then proceeded to lose her sh#t.

The anti-vaxx mum decided to get back at her in a very petty way and tried to get the birthday girl kicked out of the dance school they all attended together. That soon back fired on her though!

Doctors of Reddit, what are some of your worst experiences with anti-vaxxers? from r/AskReddit

  • And now with covid this sort of thing is even more important

  • I agree with the mum.

  • Sad for the child but the mum was doing what she thought best for all concerned.

  • It is so important to have children vaccinated, sad it had to come to this.

  • I applaud this Mum for looking out for looking out for her daughters best friend. I just hope that the other Mum’s daughter doesn’t cop the backlash that the antivaxxer’s Mother deserves

  • If I knew a child wasn’t vaccinated then I wouldn’t invite them either.

  • Vaccinate or expect a backlash from the majority.

  • I really don’t understand why people don’t vaccinate your child/ren.

  • Maybe the anti vaxer needs to realise that not vaccinating your child is not only idiotic, it makes them a liability.

  • This is when a parent needs to take responsibility for the fallout of not vaccinating their child. It is not the young girl’s fault and this woman has behaved apallingly. And in the context of a young girl being invited who is in remission for cancer, she will always trump the other. Good on the party Mum for how she handled it. A great result all round, I think.

  • Anybody who has cancer treatment has the immune system very badly compromised. They can’t even use taps in public areas. They have to use hand sanitisers then and after touching doors anywhere. Most people have no idea the restrictions they have to make recovery from the treatment. Family members in homes are constantly disinfecting things to reduce the risk of infection too. I don’t blame the Mum having the party for protecting the children including the one with Cancer. I also feel sorry for the child who has not been vaccinated as this is likely to be ongoing issue caused by the parents’ choice

  • I feel sorry for the child that ultimately pays the price of not being invited to parties, misses out on friendships etc. Because their parents choose not to vaccinate.
I think the mum uninviting the unvaccinated child did the right thing.

  • Good on the mother thinking of another child but also I feel sorry for the child who missed out unfortunately because of her mother who is blindsided by the fact why you get your children vaccinated that poor child has no choice

  • Vaccinations are important and protect so many children. I’d do the same to protect another child from getting sick.

    • I agree – the priority is the protection of the poor child!

  • Good. In my mind parents like these deserve no mercy. They refuse to believe the science behind vaccines but if their child needs medical attention they’d bring them to hospital so science can save them. Boggles the mind. Feel sorry for the little girl, being punished for her mother’s ignorance isn’t fair and she has the right to be protected from preventable diseases too.
