This is disgraceful! What on earth is wrong with people?

Aussie mum describes how she was labelled as ‘fat’ and ‘gross’ by cruel bullies who trolled her during her pregnancy.

Elisha Bakes, from Melbourne, welcomed her second son Kaelen last month and he was 3.6kg.

But when she was just 18 weeks pregnant, and announced her pregnancy to her 33,000 social media followers, the hateful comments started because her followers said her bump looked too big.

Elisa claims people continued to slam her for the size of her bump saying she must be expecting a horse, suggesting she was eating too much and assuming her diet was unhealthy.

Elisha says she was perfectly healthy and did not even get stretch marks thanks to good ‘genetics’.

Elisha said: “People would say hurtful things like,

‘Why is her bump so big? I better not get like this’ and that it was the biggest bump they’d ever seen.

“When I was six months along I would often get asked if I was due to pop any day. I would get a very surprised reaction when I let them know I was only 24 weeks.”

“I think people have an idea in their head about how a pregnant woman should look, sometimes based off their own experiences, so when they see a woman who is carrying larger or smaller, they feel the need to comment and give their two cents.

“I had hundreds of messages from women who had experienced the same thing. They told me how they would get very anxious about people commenting on their bump and would make them feel very insecure and not be able to enjoy their pregnancy.

“This would range from women who carried small and they would have people ask if they were even pregnant or telling them that they had looked bigger after eating a pizza. Some women were told they needed to eat more, whereas I was told to lay off the food.

Elisha says that her pregnancy was monitored and she was healthy and experienced no side-effects or problems.

  • The sad thing is that these rude bullies are raising children when they have not learnt how to behave and be a nice person. What chance to the children have?

I was huge with baby number 2 even though she was small and born 2 weeks early. I had excess fluid. My waters broke and I was put into hospital and that night I was amazed with how much smaller I was. It was crazy. They had to induce me the next morning.

  • I was enormous – all baby – and someone suggested I should “go to Jenny Craig”!

  • I was really big too but no need to have ppl bully her with names. My mum was a little on my case about how big I was. What food I was eating n assumed I would be diabetic but I wasn’t. Just had a massive belly. 9.1pound bub. Asking the bub is healthy n the mum is ok through out her pregnancy then everything is fine

  • With my last baby I couldn’t fit through a door sideways – but it was just a lot of fluid and weaker tummy muscles. When I was three months in, I couldn’t get a chemist to help with a draught for gas because he thought the birth was imminent.

  • A friend of mine who was pregnant visited me hospital when I was sick. Because she is shorter than average height she looked pretty big. The nurse asked me afterwards when the baby was due. She thought it would be within a couple of weeks. She got a shock when I told her she still had 2 months to go. A lot of it was fluid.

  • Everyone carries differently and there is no excuse for making nasty comments about how someone is carrying whether that’s big or small.

  • Why are people so cruel. Maybe they were just worried about how she would cope. I think the size of the baby bump is more to do with where the foetus is sitting. One person I knew didn’t look pregnant till she was 8 months along and another person looked 8 months along when she was only 3 months. Just goes to show not all women carry their baby the same way. Congratulations on the birth of your son.

  • I can no longer understand human behaviour. What is wrong with people? This woman nurtured, carried and birthed a beautiful and healthy child. That’s all that matters.

  • I can’t believe the opinions people have and how they think it is ok to share. Everyone body and every pregnancy is different and beautiful. I think she looked amazing!
