One mum claims she would never lower her child to eat off a kids menu. *sigh* eye roll*

A post shared to the Sanctimommy Facebook page, shared how one mum insisted she would never stoop so low as to feed her son anything from the kid’s menu.

“So excited for [my son] to start solids next month,” the unnamed mum wrote.

“Also being the somewhat pretentious foodie I am, he sure as hell will not be a ‘kids menu’ kind of child. Kind of hate [that] those things even exist.”

Of course she has the right to choose what her son eats, and wanting to get him started on fun and nutritious food isn’t at all a bad thing, but other mums found her optimism amusing.

“I can’t wait until she has to order, through bitter tears, macaroni and cheese with a side of macaroni and cheese because that’s literally the only thing her kid will eat, anywhere,” one mum joked.

“So you can throw away 90% of the $35 coq-au-vin instead of the $4.99 chicken fingers? Go you!”

“I’m not paying full entrée prices for a kid who will be full after four bites.”

At the end of the day it’s up to the mum to decide what her son will eat, but we can’t help but think that she’ll change her mind sooner or later.

  • Start as you mean to go on. But dont you love it when a person who hasnt been through that age with their child acts like their child will be so much better then everyone elses?

  • The only way she will be able to do this and not waste food will be to order her own meal and an empty plate then share her food with her son. Problem solved

  • There is a few places that have healthy options on their childrens menus. I know of one that has fish & chips….and they serve a lovely freshly made salad with it. (we were sitting across from the kitchen at a country roadhouse and could see them making the salad from scratch….yes it was on the childrens’ menu)

  • There are a lot of things I never thought I’d do before I became a Mum, but sadly… life is hard with kids and getting them to eat more so. Good luck to her.

  • We are all naïve when our babies are too young for step 2 – live and learn is the way it has to be.

  • I found that when my son was a toddler he would just eat some of my meal, seemed to be enough for him, why waste your money.

  • I’ve learnt as a mum to never say I’ll never be one of those mums.

  • I think she will be singing a different tune when she realises that kids love eating that type of stuff lol

  • Why write these things on social media? Easy to say when your child is still a baby. Wait a few years then see.
