This hilarious yet honest post from The Unmumsy Mum about becoming a mum of three will have you nodding like a crazy person.

The mum of three shared her thoughts on Facebook which include:

1. ‘They’ll slot straight in because they have to!’ is the biggest lie ever told.

2. See also: ‘It’s only one more than two!’ (Though factually correct, there are times when three feels at least eleven more than two).

3. The adult:child ratio has swung in their favour meaning power has shifted to them. They are now a collective, an army.

4. You will stop having conversations with your husband/wife/partner. It was hard with one child, even more of a test with two and now you’re at three, any sensible chat is off the agenda. These days, it’s one grunt for coffee, two grunts for I’m going to bed for an early night (no need to come with me) and three grunts for ‘we need more wipes.’

5. Despite being under more parenting pressure than ever before, you might feel as though you are less stressed. Don’t be fooled by this. If you were to throw a frog into a boiling pan of water, the frog would jump out from the shock. However, if you put a frog into a pan of cold water and slowly brought it to the boil, the frog would stay put, probably until it boiled to death. You are the frog. The boiling water is three children. So very hot but you can’t get out now.

6. Now that you’ve gone past the ‘sensible’ two-kids mark, people assume you’re just going to keep on going. If you were mad enough to have a third, you’re probably going to have at least ten, right?

7. Every twenty seconds, one or more of the three tiny humans you co-created will demand a drink/snack/help with Lego. Though listed as parents on the birth certificate, you are now effectively staff.

8. You‘ll try to keep in mind your vision of a lovely big family and whisper, “this dynamic is going to be magical in years to come,” as all three children try to kill each other.

9. You will get used to the chaos. Enjoy it even. You know these years are fleeting and even if you’re not managing to ‘cherish every moment’, you still wouldn’t change it for the world.

10. (Though regrettably you did say, “we should have got a cat instead” when the ‘4-month sleep regression’ lasted 14 months).

The hashtag sums it up well. #threekidslaterandnonethewiser
