Mum got huge shock after she ordered a Disney-themed birthday cake for her daughter’s birthday but received something far from it.

Bit of a twist to the story we shared last week about the “Moana” cake mix up. The employee that made the birthday cake has since been fired.

The employee, whose manager had told her to decorate the birthday cake with a marijuana theme, iced the dessert with white and green frosting, and printed it with a marijuana leaf and My Little Pony-style horse that had bloodshot eyes and a puff of smoke leaving its mouth.

Cassandra Walker, the employee who made the birthday cake, said that she got fired from her job because of the mix-up on Monday, which also happened to be her birthday.

“It’s not funny to me,” Walker said in a phone interview with PEOPLE.

“This is back-to-school time. I have two little girls here. I have a car that needs fixing. The manager stood behind me while I pulled the images off the internet,” Walker said. “She walked by as I decorated the cake. As I boxed the cake up, she was the one who walked it up to the front.”

Apparently Cassandra was offered her job back by a different manager at the Dairy Queen, though she refused.

The owner in question released a statement to USA Today, which read: “This was a simple misunderstanding from the beginning. Our birthday cake decorator designed a birthday cake based on what she thought she heard the customer order. When the customer picked it up and said it was not what she ordered, we immediately apologized for the error and offered to redesign it the way she originally intended. The customer said it was fine, paid for the birthday cake and left.”

The original story of the birthday cake calamity…

Tammy Davis had asked the bakery to make a birthday cake with Moana on top, in honour of her daughter Kensli’s favorite character, for her 25th birthday party.

The bakery apparently heard ‘marijuana’ and decorated accordingly, shares Daily Mail.

Honouring what they thought was the customer’s request, the shop baked up a giant ice cream cake adorned with a large cannabis leaf and a green ‘My Little Pony’ horse who appeared to have taken a hit too many.

The young girl took the mistake in stride and shared the hilarious mix-up on Facebook.

‘So my mama called and ordered me a cake telling them how much I loved Moana (Because really I do),’ she wrote in the post with a photo of the illicit cake.

‘Well needless to say these people thought she said marijuana.

‘That ice cream cake was still good though!’

The post has been shared more than 12,000 times, and received over 11,000 reactions with people writing that they also want a birthday cake just like it.

HAHA! Oh dear. Glad they could see the humour in it. I would probably be shattered for a while.

  • hahaha this would be funny – luckily 25th bday ..a younger kid would be in tears if this happened.

  • I would laugh it off! If it was for a child, I would do my best to alter it for a PG party. It’s hilarious, what fabulous cake decorating

  • The mistake is easily made, but why on earth did the cake decorator (who is quite talented) get fired? She did as she was asked to do by someone higher up than her. It’s not like she deliberately chose to wreck someone’s cake on her own! Them firing her was wrong, and I think if she needed the money as badly as she said she did, she should have taken the job back whilst she looked for something better.

  • Oh dear me, now that’s something you don’t hear about everyday.

  • The Shop Manager should be dismissed from the company or if applicable be removed from the franchise if there is one involved. It sounds as though the Manager might have been looking for an excuse to dismiss the employee. I might have accepted a job at another shop until I could have found a different job.

  • Such a peculiar mix up!

  • I don’t think the employee should have been fired … it really wasn’t her fault. The offer was made to correct the mistake but was refused,

  • I think it’s ott to fire someone because of a mix up

  • That’s a bit sad someone loses a job over this mix up. I’m sure the person fired will find another soon, hopefully anyway.

  • But why did they fire the employee if she actually just followed the manager’s orders? It looks a little bit too much to me. And furthermore, why did the client post those pictures public after the company apologized for the mistake and offered a new cake? I don’t find it fair to the employee. Everybody can make a mistake!!!

  • Ahhh, that explains it. I was curious to see the mix-up just based on the image. If you thought someone ordered a ‘marijuana’ cake, wouldn’t you delve a little deeper or clarify first?

  • It’s easy to laugh at the mix-up but imagine if the recipient was only 5. Bet it made for a hilarious day.

  • At least she was 25 not 5 and could laugh at it.
I Imagine it would have ended a bit different if it was a younger girls birthday
