Mum shares why we all need to relax as a parent and make important memories with our kids instead.

Amanda Parker is a NSW mum of 6. When her gorgeous children handed her the below card for Mother’s Day she just had to share the important message to other parents.

Amanda shares …

“I’m the type of mother that is very spur of the moment. I have even loaded the kids in the car once at 5pm in the afternoon to go to Queensland, a 14 hr drive. Just decided I was going at 4pm and was gone by 5pm.

I’m the fun mum that has been known to drag the kids out of bed at 10pm to go on a maccas run and have a feast.

I’m the mum that really has no set bedtime.

BUT, I wasn’t always this mum though. I was once a mum that stressed over left over dinners, panicked if the kids weren’t in bed by 8pm, panicked even more if they missed a bath”.

Then suddenly David ( her hubby) was dead and none of it seemed to matter anymore.

“I didn’t want my kids remembering me yelling and screaming to go to be or to eat their dinner.

I wanted them to remember the nights we snuggled on the floor watching movies way past bedtime.

I want them to remember the 2am road trip to get to dream world. I want them to remember how fun I was and how much I loved being with them Day or night.

I spent so many days at home cleaning while daddy took them to the pool or the park and I regret that.

My kids are happy , healthy and very well adjusted and do remind me when it’s 9.30 on a school night????.

To the mummy out there doing it tough, just remember they are only little for a short while.”

  • I love the note the girl wrote to her Mum. She often appreciated the icecream her Mum gave her.

  • True, as long as there’s some balance – but most of us could relax more.
