A Sydney mum is appalled after ordering more than $300 worth of groceries online only to find them dumped – without bags – in her garage.

The mum took to Facebook to complain about delivery, which included a large variety of fresh produce, frozen products and pantry items.

“This is how I found my delivery this morning,” she wrote.

She said she received a message from the supermarket giant at 7am stating her order would arrive at her door between 8.35am and 9.35am.

She rushed her kids to school and was home by 8am – only to find out that she’d missed the delivery.

“I receive a call at 7.45am (an hour earlier than they told me) saying they are here with the shopping asking where to leave my order,” she wrote.

“There is no safe place!! The only place is my car spot.”

“No bags, fruit, veg all on the floor of the carpark. This is over $300 worth of groceries. Appalling.”

The mum was then forced to carry all her loose items up three flights of stairs.

Woolworths have reached out to the customer, apologising for the way the groceries were left.

“We’re terribly sorry to see the state of the delivery order received,” they responded.

“We do take these type of issues seriously and we would like to investigate further.”

  • This is a tough one. Obviously she didnt pay for bags and it wouldnt be half as bad if the items were bagged. At the same time they were early. The best idea would have been for them to tell her on the phone that they would have to sort out another time or she could collect from the store and ask her which option she would prefer.

  • The woman said car Space so I suspect there is no door on it.
They also delivered it earlier than they stated they were going to

  • It look’s placed to be honest not dumped. It is all neatly stacked. We are bag-less now maybe she didn’t add the 10 cents for a bag for home delivery.

  • This is awful. I hope the delivery driver was educated on how to appropriately delivery orders to customers.

  • This is terrible and just what you don’t need. Hopefully they sorted it out for her.

  • They arrived early. It’s not the mother’s fault if she wasn’t home! Absolutely not nice to leave all that food on the floor, included the frozen products!!!

  • Oh wow!! This is shocking. I don’t buy groceries online, but can’t imagine this happening. Woolworths need to sack that delivery person and compensate this woman.

  • When you see the ad on tv the shopping is always delivered in a crate or box. Wonder why this wasn’t done. Hopefully all of the frozen products were okay or replaced. I can’t get delivery where I live so never a problem for me. Hopefully Woolworths find out who delivered this and are no longer allowed to make any more deliveries.

  • That’s horrible, can’t the delivery people call the customer if they are early?

  • Why didnt they just leave it in the crate, thats what they should of done. I have mine delivered to and often in the morning when taking my kids of to school. I leave a washing basket out the front door just in case they come early.

  • This is why I don’t get delivery, make sure your home when they come Mums

  • When you order without bags (which our now priced) it might be delivered this way ?

    • You get the $1 you pay for the bags refunded the next time you do an order

  • This is terrible, an hour early is not fair I’m sure this woman knows what time she selected. Woolworths should follow the time slots more correctly. As for the no bags who knows if she chose any or not. Anyway it’s still unacceptable to be there earlier. There is a reason for time slots, maybe late is ok but not early due to people not being home. This could have been prevented.

  • To me it would seem she ordered with the no bags option and her delivery window probably 7-11. The approx tracking delivery time is just that. I get that you need to drop your kids at school but maybe order delivery for a later period when you won’t be doing drop off or pick up. Apart from that, they called and she said she had no safe place just her car space. So guess where it was put?

  • Get over it. Obviously selected the option with no bags. I order like that with Coles and they bring their plastic tubs that they have to take back for other orders. You select your delivery time that suits you, so how about be home to accept the delivery into your house? They don’t have time to sit around waiting for you!
