Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. ABC KIDS have announced that  changes are coming to the morning TV schedule from Monday 3 July. Including Play School.

Parents are outraged that ABC KIDS dare to mess with their morning routine. Don’t they realise this will mean hundreds of kids will miss their favourite show because they will be dropping older siblings at school around the time play School will be screening.

One mum wrote, “I hate program changes. I can tell the time by what’s on. My son only watches a few shows, but the programming was fine. He’ll never see Thomas now, too late, usually out and about/ activities etc”

Another said, “What exactly is the point of switching playschool & Sesame Street? If you’re going to have them anyway just leave them where they were so you don’t irritate people for no reason.”

“No (sad face emoji) why did you change the times of play school and sesame street? Play school is my daughters fav show but we don’t normally turn the TV on until 9:30 so we will miss it!”

“Play School time change was a bad move. We’ll never watch it now. Won’t even be back in time after school run with younger child. Disappointed!”

One mum pointed out, “Do you ever consider the kids with special needs? They like routine.”

” Disappointed regarding Play School. We will miss most of it with the school run! My younger two will miss it.”

Will this change have an impact on your morning routine?

  • The TV is generally off on kinder mornings for us anyway or we’d never get out of the house ???? This isn’t a huge deal for us at all.

  • With the changing of the times, my grandaughter is not able to watch her shows. Have instead have her watching CeeBeeBee for its shows. My four year olds can watch on Iview as both times were not good for them. Routine is needed in some children.

  • You can never please everybody. Some will be happy about the changes, others will be angry about them.

  • I’m lucky I don’t have school age kids too so my toddler is not really affected but I understand others frustration for sure. It’s been at 9.30 since I was a Bub and I’m 42!!

  • Indeed, that’s my reasoning too. Are there really a lot of people who don’t record? A great way to get rid of advertisement too.

  • One easy solution: record the programs you want to watch and play them at your own time `or teach your kids that they will have to do with what is on.

  • Iview ladies, this way you only watch what you want whenever you feel like watching it. Are we really complaining about TV programming? Welcome to the age of entitlement >_<.

  • Why this big disappointment? I don’t understand. I always record programs on television so I can watch them when I want and I can skip the advertisement.
Don’t other people record programs on tv?

  • I hate when they take Thomas off the morning and put him on the afternoon! Its the only show my son wants to watch. Its a nightmare every time they do it!

  • I wonder what ABC’s reasoning is. If there are enough complaints, maybe they’ll leave it in its current time slot.

  • We’ll never see it because of the school run. Sad.
