Gold Coast mum shares a clever tip to settle bub and take a well deserved MUM break!

Melissa Dykstra shared how she rested a blown up rubber glove on her one-month-old’s belly, in place of her own hand, so she could have a shower.

“It gave me enough time for a shower and to finish my coffee while it was still hot,” she told news.com.au.

“I did sit with her and she wasn’t upset when she woke up, just looked a little confused.

“She’s going through her first ‘leap’ (in her mental development) so she’s been extra clingy the last few days and makes it so hard to even go to the bathroom so I thought I’d try it and I was surprised at how well it worked.”

There have been thousands of comments on the post with parents thanking the mum for the genius idea.

Awesome idea!

  • Sometimes it just needs to be something that smells like you. I’m not being rude saying that. I am saying that from personal experience. It can work wonders If you are babysitting a baby even if he / ‘she is in her own bed.

  • I don’t think it would work on my kids, I think that they are too smart to have believed it really was my hand lol!

  • Good on her when it works.
I would be a bit concerned though when baby chews or sucks on it.

  • Wow if it works, good on her. My kids wanted the full warm cuddle. I tried different ‘hacks’ but none worked for me.

    • I agree with you – children needed the warmth of a human cuddle.
