Hello!

Earlier this week we shared that women were divided over Lauren Brant’s post baby selfie. She has spoke out about the massive response she received.

Lauren has responded to the criticism around her post-baby selfie via Mamamia by saying, “The reason I posted a pic of my body one WEEK post partum (and chose to put it only on my story for those mums who have actively followed my pregnancy), is so that other women who are trying to exercise and eat healthy throughout their pregnancy, but are feeling un-motivated, can see that it’s worth it in the end.

It’s so important for us as mums to love ourselves, so we can fully be there for our children. That is my golden rule with all forms of relationships. Look after myself to be able to give 100%. Also, no one should have a problem with me being proud?

I am torn, I am stitched, I did haemorrage, I do go through four maternity pads a day, I’m exhausted, my boobs are so sore and I cry when I pee and sneeze. BUT I am proud of every bit!

So while it may look like I didn’t experience what other women did and therefore don’t understand, I am the same woman as they/you are.

I choose to promote the positive aspect as much as possible and not complain.”

Previously we shared…

Taking to social media, the reality TV stars shared a string of posts gushing about their son Miller Hall.

“What a ride so far. So many firsts! First time home! First car ride! First bath! First dinner as a family! He is such a Star! Ah and mum @laurenbrant is too” AFL legend Barry wrote alongside a black and white image of him cradling his baby boy.

The 40-year-old also paid tribute to the Hi-5 star on her first Mother’s Day.

“Happy Mother’s Day beautiful. Miller is so blessed to have you as a Mum.xx,” Barry wrote.

Lauren also took a moment to acknowledge the day. “One week ago today I was blessed with my beautiful baby boy. Becoming a Mother has given my life such greater meaning. It’s something I have always wanted and now that I have been blessed with my perfect partner and our perfect son, it has never felt so right. I am totally in love with being a Mum,” she began. “My heart feels like it is about to explode, I have found the purity in so many emotions and truly discovered selflessness.”

“Though my life has changed forever and my days just got a whole lot busier, I am so calm and content. Our little bundle of joy has put everything into perspective and there is nothing more important than our little family. Mummy absolutely loves you Miller, thank you for making me the proudest Mother this Mother’s Day!”

However, Lauren’s latest Instagram Story posts has her fans divided. She shared a snap of herself holding baby Miller wearing a black bikini.

“Exactly 1 week post [baby emojis],” she remarked.

Comments flowed…

“The bikini thing is a bit premature…us mums know what’s going on down below and it requires padding usually,” one fan noted.

“I gave birth a week ago today and I haven’t done as much as look at myself in the mirror. Yes, I’ve been lucky and my tummy seems to have gone down fast. But dolling up and posing for a pic for thousands to see would be the last thing on my mind,” another said.

“This is not realistic!! 99.99% of women couldn’t achieve this,” another agreed.

While others pointed out everyone’s body is different.

“Her belly is small while pregnant, she just looked like she had a pod belly. Lucky her I guess…..everyone’s body different,” one fan explained.

We took a MoM poll and our members actually said they really don’t care about other people’s post baby bodies as long as they aren’t making other people feel bad that they didn’t get their pre-baby body back so easily, good for them. Wish it was me!

  • she looks fine. We all are different and our bodies are different. I was more focused on my newborn vs what i looked like though lol

  • I bled for 7 weeks after. I’m more concerned she’s using tampons because she clearly isn’t using the bath towel sized pads I had stuffed in my knickers. Its such a huge infection risk!

  • Lauren has still got a rounded belly. If she stood sideways it would show a lot more. Her knickers are either very brief or she can’t pull them up any higher.

  • Congratulations to Lauren and Barry, wishing you all the best for the future!

  • Congrats to this couple.
I can understand she’s happy to bounce back quickly in her pre-pregnancy posture, wouldn’t you ?

  • can we not just be happy for someone? whether it takes a week, year or never to get back into that pre-pregnancy bikini? also she is a reality start, so if she’s not posting vain photos she’s not doing her job.

  • looks to me like strategic posing, you can see her belly is still rounded and the way her legs are are covering any visual sign of the “down there padding”. If my body bounced back so fast you better believe I would be flaunting it!

  • First time Mums, if they had a toned, flat tummy, will usally go back fast, same if bub is breastfed. I did with my first, not so much with the other two but I was no where near as active as I was by then. Good on her, show it off while you can.

  • This is why I don’t bother with Instagram – I don’t care about this stuff, and I don’t know who these people are.

    Reply

  • well it’s not for everyone, but I guess if you can recover that quickly and you want to pose in a bikini well good for her

I can honestly say though that after my two there was no chance in HELL lol! that I would do that let alone want proof of what I looked like!

No need to get angry at her though, just remember to not compare yourself to her or take it all so seriously – there’s bigger problems in the world than who does what post pregnancy!
