This little (big) bubba weighed in at twice the size of an average newborn.

Baby, Maoama Ala was born almost twice as big as the average Australian baby. Weighing in at whopping 6.3kg.

His parents couldn’t wrap newborn nappies around him or squeeze him into the clothes they had packed when he was born on Tuesday, reported Courier Mail.

The baby boy was born via caesarean section at 39 weeks after doctors became concerned about his size.

“They did scans and said he was a big baby, so they booked me in for a caesarean, but at the time they thought he was about 4kg,” his mother Teuaililo Ala said.

“When he came out I was very surprised.”

Moama weighed 6320 grams and was 60cm long. The average Australian baby tips the scales at 3.3kg.

Naww congrats mumma! He is adorable.

  • Big bubba, well done mumma!

  • Congratulations to the mum – but I wouldn’t want to carry this bub around for long.

  • I doubt the Mum could have delivered her baby naturally. He would probably “got stuck” and his Mum had to have an emergency c-section.

  • Oh goodness, double the size of my bub.

  • I tried to recommend this but it would not do it!

  • I saw this on the news and felt physical pain between my legs at the sheer size of this baby. Obviously and thankfully a caesar was performed. My son was over 4kg and I know the pain and aftermath of that, which is why I really feel for what this woman must have gone through to deliver such a healthy, large baby boy. He’s healthy though and all that matters is that Mum and bub are doing well.

  • Adorable baby! Congratulations to the parents. Both my bubs were around the 4 – 4.5 kg mark, so the newborn nappies & clothes never really fit either. All the more Bub to love, I say :)

  • He is beautiful. Heartiest congratulations. I HAVE SEEN 2 BABIES BORN within hours of each other. One was 12 .5 lbs and the other was well over13lbs in the old scale. That was back in 1968

  • Congrats mum on giving birth to a big baby, glad she went with a C section. Mine while being big were never that big. My biggest was just over 5kg, never liked to handle those tiny babies as they are so small. Though the big ones can make your arms so tired from carrying them. Good luck on her next one.

  • Such a huge baby. It must have been quite a difficult pregnancy for the mother. He’s exactly 3 kilo’s more than my daughter was at birth! :-)
