Hello!

The world’s first exclusive underwater villa has just opened. And best of all it’s super affordable…if you’re a millionaire that is.

If you’ve got a spare $50,000 lying around, The Muraka, located in the heart of Rangali Island in the Maldives, is the place to be. The resort’s new underwater villa sits at 5 metres under the sea, designed to have little impact on the natural ecosystem while immersing you in a world of incredible sealife.

Money Well Spent

You will certainly get value for money at The Muraka, as the price does not just include accomodation in the exclusive underwater villa, but also bundles in a flight to the resort, free use of speedboats throughout the stay, and a team of 24 hour staff including a butler, chef, massage therapist and personal trainers.

Owned by The Hilton Group, the villa was built in Singapore on land before being transported to the Maldives resort and lowered into the water. It was then secured into place with concrete pylons to keep it steady in rough seas and changing tides. The only catch is you can only book the villa for a minimum of four nights, hence the hefty price tag. Not a problem – they’d have a hard time getting us to leave!

Rather Stay On Dry Land?

For those that find the concept of sleeping under the Indian ocean with sharks and stingrays swimming above them a little overwhelming, the resort also has a number of above water floating villas which you can score for as little as $550 a night depending on the time of year – a few less zeros make all the difference!

Whether we somehow managed to fund a stay in the exclusive underwater villa or had to ‘settle’ for an above water villa, you wouldn’t catch us saying no to a Maldives getaway!

  • I don’t have the money to stay here and the view would be great but my claustrophobia would also stop me staying here. I think it’s still good you can get an above the sea room too and it would be such a great place for a holiday.

  • It looks amazing, although don’t know how I’d go as I always need to have the window open when I sleep lol.

  • Is the room soundproof or can your hear the movement of the water all the time?
If you can you certainly wouldn’t want to have a weak bladder

  • Looks lovely, too bad I’m not a millionaire though truth be told I don’t think I’d want to be under the water like that.

  • Not sure I would be able to sleep there, I can’t even sleep in the same room as our fish tank lol

  • Wow! This looks amazing! There is something so peaceful and tranquil about aquariums so I would spend hours just watching the fish swim around! Unfortunately I am not rich so will never get to stay here lol
