A Byron Bay primary school has gone into lockdown after a teacher was allegedly stabbed by a parent with a pair of scissors.
There are reports a female parent stabbed the teacher on the ground of Byron Bay Public School at about 7.20am this morning.
Police were reportedly called to the school shortly after the incident.
The man suffered cuts to his face and arms and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The woman was arrested by 11am and is now being interviewed by police.
A local took to the Byron Bay Community Board public Facebook group to confirm students at the primary school were safe.
“There has been an incident at the school this morning which has resulted in a teacher being hospitalized,” the post read.
“We have been reassured that our child and all the children are safe. Just wanted to let everyone know, in case you wanted to contact the school and check on the wellbeing of your child, although they can’t share any details of the incident.”
