Even though it’s technically a decorative piece, we can’t help but think it might have other uses…

Costcoin the US is now selling a four foot (1.2 metre) wine glass. That’s 116cm, or about the height of the average six year old. Whilst the glass is marketed as being for ‘decorative purposes only’, designed to hold plants or festive holiday ornaments, we’re sure mums might have other ideas…

Convenience and Practicality

The glass is estimated to hold a whopping twenty-five bottles of wine, which is excessive by anyone’s standards, but we can’t help but think it would be convenient to put those two or three glasses of Friday night rosé in one giant receptacle before commencing a well deserved House of Cards marathon.

Even if in reality its 116cm size makes the idea ridiculously impractical, we all know one glass of rosé is more than enough, and the chances of an uninterrupted Friday night alone in front of the telly are slim. We can dream…

A Feature For The Home

You may be wondering what the point of having such a massive wine glass in your home is – we’ve established that its value as a drinking glass is pretty much non-existent, but Costco suggests some cute ways to make it work as a feature in your home according to thekitchn.com.

You could fill it with used wine corks as a way to remember all your incredibly successful dinner parties and celebrations. With Christmas fast approaching, the glass could hold fairy lights, tinsel or festive lollies, or be an amazing alternative to a punch bowl for your Christmas party.

Retailing for $96, the glass is not yet available in Australian Costco stores, but we’re sure it will make an appearance before too long. As one fan put it, “Now I just need an eight foot wine bottle to go with my four foot wine glass!”

  • I can see people buying thses as a bit of a joke gift.

  • I would not buy one, seems silly.

  • A bit over the top lol! In this house full of boys it would be sure broken within a few days. Nothing like a soccer ball hitting it! (No they are not meant to kick balls inside….. but guess what…. they have a sneaky go now and then!)

  • WHY? We’re complaining about obesity and upsizing of everything, so why??

  • Hmmm…seems a bit silly. Obviously it’s not for wine because no one could drink that much, and it would be a huge waste of space in your home as a decorating piece, not to mention impractical as it would be so easy to knock over and break.

  • I would fill it with water and a few fish and have an open air aquarium.

    • Same!, Fish would look cool but I would be worried kids would knock it over

  • I think it certainly looks decorative for growing plants and of course not practical to drink wine from ! It would make a lovely gift for a wine lover !

  • Can’t even imagine it being used as a decorative item. It would be too thick to drink out of too.

  • Some days I feel like I need a wine this big lol. Its a pity more wines dont come with corks anymore because I would put this near the bar and fill it up with corks as a cook talking piece

  • That’s huge!! Not sure I would want it in my house though. Too fragile.

  • I’d be worried about the stability with my little one around.
