DISTRESSING news today with Queensland Detectives treating the death of a two-year-old girl who suffered cardiac arrest as suspicious. Meanwhile in Adelaide a mother and child were also found deceased in their home.

Authorities were called to a home in Northgate yesterday afternoon around 4.30pm after the young toddler stopped breathing.

The girl was also found with “significant injuries”, however the cause of injury is unclear.

Paramedics administered CPR to the child for 30 minutes and were able to revive her before transporting her to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

The young girl died overnight, authorities confirmed.

Police told 9NEWS the Child Protection Unit is now involved and a man and woman are speaking with police.

A neighbour told 9NEWS there was “no indication” that anything suspicious had happened at the home yesterday.

“Everything was very quiet,” she said.

“I was quite amazed because there was no noise and then all of a sudden all these ambulances were there.”

“There is never any sound that comes from there, nothing that gave me any indication that anything was wrong yesterday.”
