Parents who have taught their three young children how to pole-dance have insisted their family hobby is ‘perfectly appropriate’.

Jake Night and Lindsey Teall, of St Louis in Missouri, who are both exotic dancers, practice the risque sport with Aiden, 11, Lindsey’s son from her first marriage, and their two daughters, Alaura, five, and three-year-old Rosalyn in a pole they’ve had installed in the middle of their living room.

The family showed off their moves on This Morning on Wednesday and were soon slammed by This Morning viewers, who branded it ‘disturbing’.

The couple have been teaching their children pole-dance moves since they were born and Lindsey continued to do it throughout her pregnancies.

They insisted there was nothing sexual about the sport and they make it age-appropriate for their children.

This Morning viewers, said the parents should be ‘ashamed’ for teaching their parents the raunchy moves.

One tweeted: ‘What am I watching on #ThisMorning. Seeing a little girl with her legs wide open on daytime telly, actually disgusting. the parents should be ashamed.’

‘Ok that’s disturbing,’ another posted.

A third said: ‘Pole dancing kids is just wrong on so many levels.’

Do you think it is an appropriate activity for young children?

  • Good for them. I dont see any problem with it at all.

  • I know pole dancing is great exercise but why not just do gymnastics together? I think they need to ask themselves where pole dancing comes from and what sort of career path it leads to. Teaching your children that pole dancing is okay could lead to more and there are enough sickos out there.

  • Isn’t this the same sort of thing as gymnastics. At least the whole family are doing this for strength and exercise. Just think, the kids could be sitting around watching tv or playing computer games.

  • So I’m not into pole dancing but… clearly this family is. It’s what they do. Adults are the ones who sexualise this child, she doesn’t know any different. Gymnastics, calisthenics, dancing… there are other activities where you could complain if you choose to sexualise.

  • I gather that the people complaining about this have never watched gymnastics. There is nothing wrong with this as a way of keeping fit. I wish I had known about this type of exercising when I was young and healthy, I would have tried it.

  • Pole *fitness* is a great way to build core strength. I have no issue with kids doing pole fitness. Pole *dancing* however tends to be quite sexualized and I am against anything that wrongly sexualises children.
The boy’s neck piece makes me concerned since it has a definite air of erotic dancing to it.

  • I like the idea of it and agree it is good fitness, but I am a little concerned about the way the older boy is dressed in the video (I feel the neck piece does add a little ‘exotic’ hint to the deal !!). I guess it is a sport where there is a fine line that could be crossed from time to time, perhaps different for different people… and yes some pervs will probably be turned on by watching kids do it. Also unlike gymnastics (which does have many similar moves) pole dancing is mostly associated with the exotic side. I mean I haven’t seen it in the olympics but it appears in most movies depicting sleazy clubs etc.

  • We have our legs open in ballet moves too, some legitimate types of gymnastics.
It can look sleazy the way it is performed in some places. Just don’t go there.

  • Its a great way to keep fit and strong. If they have their kids in g strings up there it would be different.

  • There is physipole here in Australia that’s all about fitness and competitions doing amazing dance routines. They also run kids classes, which I think is a great way to get the kids fit and healthy

  • Yes, I think it’s fine for any age group. It’s actually a wonderful sport, by which you can work many muscles and develop great body strength. It’s clear they don’t teach the kids exotic pole dancing.

  • They all look extremely fit people.

  • Not for me but I know some women it’s just about fitness

  • Personally I’m not a fan but not opposed to it for other peoples children.

  • I’ve watched pole dancing before and am in awe of their fitness level and body strength. I don’t think it’s inappropriate for kids. Just keep the creepy perves away. As for persons comment of the little girl with her legs spread…….have they never seen a yoga class? Seriously, it will boost the family’s health and fitness and is something they enjoy doing together…..what is do wrong with that? They’re not putting their kids on show to perform at a strip club or anything
