Proud mummy, Pink, shared a photo of her toddler during swimming lessons. But of course fans were not happy that he was so upset.

“Swimming lessons are fu*king fun you guys,” Pink wrote alongside the video of Jameson in the swimming pool.

Fans soon began to attack the singer.

“He will be made to hate it and dread each lesson. Pink I am surprised at you,” one commenter posted.

“I count that as child abuse. I love your music but this is bullcrap,” another declared.

“He’s a baby. Seems a little harsh,” someone else suggested.

“Isn’t he a little small for that? Sounds as [if] he is very scared. Swimming should be fun. Take care little one,”

Of course loyal her fans soon jumped to her defence.

“Love this, but I am such a baby as I would jump in and grab him. Well not really !! LOL”

“In Norway, they start swimming at a few months old. It’s good for them to get used to water that young. The babies there play games in the water, they dive and have fun.”

“He looks scared. But then he does it.”

“Babies are amazing natural swimmers & overcome fear fairly easily. Don’t criticize unless you have data & have tried / tested it. I have!”

“awesome mama. It’s so important for kids who live around water to be taught the basics. He will LOVE it.”

“I love this… let her teach a gently move forward. Way to go!”

Pink responded to the criticism saying, “My daughter started at 6 months. Cried every day for five days. Then I took her again at 18 months. Cried every day. Again at 2 1/2. Screamed bloody murder.”

“My hands were shaking. On the way to the car she said ‘mama, that was so much fun.’ I was like, ‘WHAT?!’ Now, she swims like an actual fish, and she loves it. And I no longer worry about her every second she’s in the water.”

“My son, this is his first lesson. But when he is also safe in the water and knows how to swim out of a pool without panicking, or knows how to roll over and lay on his back, Believe me sweetie, you’re the last person I’ll be thinking of. Swimming should be safe first, and then fun.”

  • Some people just love to tear others down. it makes them feel good about their own parenting skills. None of us are perfect but each of us know our kids better then anyone and we know when its time to step in and say enough.

  • From what I’ve read about her, I think Pink is a responsible parent.

  • I agree with her – it’s a safety issue.

  • A lot of babies are upset and cry during some lessons. e had to get one of ours out of the pool early a few times as although the pool was warm he was cold to the extent he started going blue. We stated putting rashie suits over his swimmers and bathers after that and he didn’t get cold as quickly. .He also didn’t like his head down in the water at all. He got used of that very slowly. Strange part is now he’d old her prefers the bath water to the on the coolish side

  • I don’t really see the problem, sometimes the kids start off hesitant, then they are fine, or they are not, but whatever, it is an important skill to learn, to be able to swim.

  • Seriously? What’s the outrage? Clearly you’ve never taught your child to swim. There are sometimes tears, and sometimes not. Surely learning to swim (and not drown) is the priority.

  • Oh leave her alone! I am sure she’s a responsible parent.

  • There is no way Pink would let her child be hurt. He probably wanted to play instead of swim.

  • Yep, this is life. If you want your children to be able to swim, to keep them safe if they ever fell in a pool etc, this is what we need to do. My son cried every time we took him for about a year!

  • Swimming lessons are apart of life, yes we dont always do things we enjoy, but these lessons might just one day save ours or someone else life.

  • water safety is important and we all know babies don’t always like change.

  • People are annoying. Water safety is so important for them to learn from a young age.

  • Upset or not He will be better off in the long run knowing how to swim. She would be worse not teaching him and leaving him to fate as to if he drowns in a pool or not. Not sure it has to be put on social media though.

  • So glad this woman is strong enough to cop the criticism. I just love her, the music, her kids, her attitude to life. I think she’s wonderful

    • Totally agree with you, P!NK is no different to most mums who want to teach their kidlets safety in life,to all those criticizing her, we’re not living in the dark ages,a lot of babies start swimming lessons from 6 months old these days, some even earlier,it comes naturally to most,of course there maybe some tears at first,it’s a new venture to little James. like my mum use to always say”if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” it’s no one else’s business. ;)
