Pink’s hubby, Carey, shared a video of their seven-year-old daughter, Willow, firing a rifle.

He captioned the image, “Haven’t poked the parent police bear in a few days. Willz and I shooting the 22 rifle. She is getting pretty good. Can hit a 12 inch pie plate from 30 yards.

He added, “Started her shooting at 3yrs old. For the record non of us hunt, just enjoy shooting for sport. I’m raising the kids with knowledge of fire arms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands. #knowledgeispower”

As usual fans were quick to jump on and share their thoughts with him.

Some fans wrote, “Keep up the good parenting,” wrote one fan.

“I am a proud girl that shoots and knows how to properly handle a firearm thanks to my dad!” added a commenter.

“Right on, they need to know this stuff so when the time comes they can make the right decision and maybe save someone’s life,” another supporter wrote. “Doing the same thing with my girls.”

However, as expected, some were less impressed.

“Unless she loses control and shoots you in the face, all good,” one person wrote, prompting the dad to call her “ignorant.”

Carey soon offered advice to parents, suggesting they “start them young” on gun education and try a gun range if they aren’t comfortable teaching kids about guns themselves.

“In America firearms are legal and not going away,” he added in a comment to a those who questioned his support of guns.

“So I choose to embrace it. Take the taboo out. Educate them so they don’t become a statistic. Many forms of shooting are an OLYMPIC SPORT.”

  • Teaching them how to respect a gun and its proper use is something that I dont have any worries over. It might be a sport that they become interested in. They might move to live in the Woods in the US and need a gun for protection from wild animals. As long as they are not taught to shoot animals they dont intend to eat then all is fine

  • Oh my goodness. It’s a controlled environment. They haven’t just given her a gun and let her play with it. I believe proper education about gun safety is the key.

  • It’s their choice and at least Willow will learn to respect the dangers of handling a gun.

  • I don’t like guns at all, and this pic is not appealing to me in any way. However, he is absolutely poking the bear and choosing to share knowing the commentary that will come back.

  • I was 9 or 10 when I frist shoot an air rifle. My father wanted me see how dangerous there could be and the learn the correct way to use them. I continue shooting them for about 10 years and was asked at about 15 or 16 if I wanted to join a group to train for the Olympics. This thought he to respect them and know what they can do

  • Leave Pink and Husband alone – for heaven’s sake they live in America – guns are almost mandatory there – better she knows how to use one than just carries one around.

  • Guns kill people. I don’t care what they say, but the world would be a much safer and more peaceful world without the aggression of guns. I wish celebrities would not brag about it.

  • I don’t feel that I can have a real opinion on this because we live in a different environment. However, I’m so glad we don’t have the same gun culture here as in America.

  • Probably something common in the US. The only idea petrifies me though. :-(

  • I think it is great teaching her how to be safe and responsible around fire arms – I think especially in America where they have so much gun violence that being educated about them can only help. Nothing wrong with shooting guns on a range, lots of olympic medallists shoot guns on ranges!

    • Trouble is the ones who end up killing people were also trained to use firearms otherwise they would not use a gun if not trained.

  • Personally I don’t see the need to introduce firearms to my kids.
But I think that when you’re raising the kids with knowledge of fire arms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands, knowledge is indeed power.
Firearms in the States is part of life indeed.

  • I think it is great that he is teaching his daughter to handle guns properly and that they are not a toy

  • I personally hate guns. I think pink and hubby might like a little controversy.

    • yes they certainly get the attention they crave, too bad the kid has no choice.

  • Guns scare me, but I think he is responsibly showing and teaching his daughter how to handle and use them for sport purposes

    • It does show responsibility even though I dislike guns.
