Police searched for the family of a small boy found crying in the middle of the night in a western Sydney street.

The parents of a boy who was found in Merrylands West early this morning have been reunited with the child.

Residents called police after hearing crying noises in Lucy Street in Merrylands West about 2.30am on Tuesday, reports 9 news.

The boy, believed to be about two or three years old, of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance.

He was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was cared for by the officers.

Police would like to thank the media and the community for their assistance.

  • The Police thanked the media and community for their assistance so I hope that means the toddler was re-united with his family.
    Is the toddler enough to reach the locks on the doors, open them and let himself out? If so, his parents may not have realised he can. When I moved to a later built house I discovered the door handles were lower. The children could reach the new ones but not the old ones. He may have woken up after his parents went to bed and them not heard him.
