A popular Australian baby Facebook page has offended mums across the country with a recent post about C-sections.

Bubs Warehouse has recently faced some serious backlash following the offensive social media post.

They shared a photo to their public Facebook page of a newborn baby with a card that read “C-section babies: keeping fannies tight all around the world… congratulations.”

They captioned the image; “This mum had a vaginal birth, but her friend gave her this card. Awkward.”

The post was quickly inundated with comments from angry mothers who found it crude and harmful.

“This post is vulgar,” one mum wrote, adding that birth “doesn’t work like that.”

“Very distasteful,” replied another mum who had undergone a caesarean section birth.

“I don’t find this funny. I’ve come across women wanting C-sections for this reason, but it’s not the way it works. A C-section is not easy.”

Some insisted that Bubs Warehouse were furthering harmful myths about childbirth, which could easily influence new or expecting mothers.

“What about the mothers reading this who have just birthed a baby naturally and are all stitched up, wondering if it’s ever going to be the same?” one mum wrote.

“The mother who’s lost sensation because the wrong parts tore, the Mother’s with PND and body Issues, the mother who’s in an abusive relationship getting told she’s loose now?”

Bubs Warehouse later stated the post was intended as a joke, and had been “chosen and posted” by a mum who had a vaginal birth.

“The meme was not posted on our page with the intent of offending anyone,” a spokesperson for Bubs Warehouse told 9Honey.

“Unfortunately, some people took things out of context and attempted to find a reason to claim it as a personal attack, when it was never intended as an attack on anyone.”

  • ummmm different people, different perspectives, I’d say!

  • Not offensive, but definitely not funny. Childbirth should never be ridiculed. I’m assuming this was created by a man.

  • Totally not appropriate for a company to post on their social media account!

  • I can see this from all angles. How awkward the mother may have felt getting such a card, and probably hadn’t even thought about her vagina before hand, the offensive side and the funny side. It really shouldn’t have been posted on their page though

  • I’ve a natural birth and c-section. I really couldn’t care about the post.
But these days, your always bound to offend someone no matter what.

  • I’m sure the person who sent this meant it as a joke. Maybe they should have kept it personal and not shared it on the internet

  • Haha I think that card must have been created by a man or someone who isn’t educated properly.

  • I don’t think this is a funny joke.

  • Story of women of lives these days, women who feel guilt over things can’t just accept it and own they have to condemn anyone who “offends” them get over it, it’s a funny joke, go deal with your own issues elsewhere and leave everyone else alone

  • Personally I don’t like it and find it offensive. If this is an ‘in-joke’ between friends it should have been kept that way and not put out there on social media.

  • Honestly if one of my friends gave me that card, I would find the humour in it and I had an episiotomy. They obviously have that sense of humour but the people who posted it should have known that not all people would appreciate it.

  • Why do people get so easily offended? If you could see the humour between friends good. If you think it’s bad taste, then keep scrolling and don’t let it worry you. As a society we need to have more resilience. There are a lot bigger things to take offence to then a card given as a joke to a friend.
