We wanted to share this with you as we feel it is a great initiative – here is the press release from Rafferty’s Garden:

Today Rafferty’s Garden, Australia’s favourite baby food company, announced it has teamed up with UNICEF to help save the lives of children less fortunate.

As a UNICEF Champion for Children, Rafferty’s Garden will donate one sachet of special nutritional therapeutic food, called Plumpy’nut, to help a malnourished child under UNICEF’s care, for every two pouches sold through Rafferty’s Garden’s new online store.

Michael Tinkler, Rafferty’s Garden CEO explains, “Rafferty’s Garden has always focussed on giving babies and toddlers the very best start in life so it made sense for us to create an alliance that supported infant nutrition for people in dire need.

“We are proud to be working with such a great organisation. When crises occur around the world, UNICEF works to support vulnerable children so poorly nourished that they are unable to consume regular food. The Plumpy’nut sachet is a high-protein super food that can save a malnourished child’s life.” he said.

UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive from early childhood through to adolescence. The organisation is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments, which demonstrates the importance of partners like Rafferty’s Garden.

UNICEF CEO Norman Gillespie explains, “This partnership will provide food for thousands of children in need. Right now across drought-affected areas in East Africa and across the Sahel, we are working with our partners to treat malnutrition through therapeutic feeding programs. The support from Rafferty’s Garden contributes significantly to these vital projects.”

  • This is a great initiative however I would love to see companies supporting Australian charities or needy people rather than overseas.

  • What a refreshing change to see a company doing something that isn’t purely in their own interests, or for their own benefit. Wish more companies would do something like this.
