This is sort of like a sweet vinegar which is used for some Japanese recipes, but I have only used it in one Thai stir fry. It gives a sweet taste with a nice aroma and keeps for a long time in the pantry. I use it in place of manjo mirin because that’s a bit harder to find in the shops and costs more than this.
This gives a beautiful sweetness to asian cooking and it is a must have ingredient in my ramen, which is an easy staple in my home. I just wish it came in a larger bottle because I go through it too quickly.
