This delicious festive Christmas sparkling spider has two versions, one for the adults and one for the children. The rosy red colour is very festive and the candy cane rim adds a pop of minty flavour as well as being visually appealing.
Note: I used the Coles Mixed Berry Topping in the glass bottle, it has 50% berries and is lovely and thick and sticks to the serving glass well. It also adds that little bit of added sweetness.

Ingredients (serves 1 | makes 1 glass)

  • Adult:
  • 1 candy cane
  • 1 scoop berry sorbet
  • 1 handful raspberries
  • 1 glass sparkling wine
  • 1 serving glass
  • Child:
  • 1 candy cane
  • 1 scoop berry sorbet
  • 1 handful raspberries
  • 1 tsp mixed berry topping
  • 1 glass raspberry fizzy cordial
  • 1 serving glass

Method

  1. Adult: Crush the candy cane in a small food processor, blender, mortar and pestle or a plastic clip lock bag with a rolling pin. Place on a plate. Dip the rim of the glass in water, then in the crushed candy cane.
  2. Place a scoop of berry sorbet and a handful of raspberries in the glass and top with sparkling wine.
  3. Child: Crush the candy cane as above. Place on a plate. Dip the rim of the glass in water, then in the crushed candy cane.
  4. Place a scoop of berry sorbet and a handful of raspberries in the glass. Add the mixed berry topping, drizzling the topping down the inside of the glass. Top with raspberry fizzy cordial.

  • I love this idea. It would also mean that someone who doesn’t drink alcohol will not feel conspicuous as the drinks will look almost identical. What wonderful ideas that are coming out this Christmas.

  • What a lovely idea – just make sure you don’t get the two mixed up and the children get the adult mix. Thanks for sharing.
