Rice Malt Syrup Chocolate Sauce is such a great way to still enjoy a sweet topping on your pancakes.  Just without all the processed sugar!

MoM Member Claire has created her own Rice Malt Syrup Chocolate Sauce with some nutritious and goodness rich ingredients.

Rice Malt Syrup Chocolate Sauce is surprisingly easy when you have the recipe; we’re wondering why you’d go for a store bought, sugar laden option once you have this recipe!

Here’s what Claire shared when she posted her recipe …

“I use homemade “chocolate” sauce for this recipe. Super easy to make: blend down one avocado, 2 teaspoons of cacao powder, 3 tablespoons of rice malt syrup (add more or less as desired) and that’s it! This is a nice way to use up any left over pancakes”.

Rice Malt Syrup is readily available in supermarkets now so it’s easy to get hold of.  You can also buy Rice Malt Syrup at Health Food Stores too.

We’re thinking this Rice Malt Syrup Chocolate Sauce Recipe will be awesome on so many other things too:

  • Layer between two sponge cakes with double cream and strawberries
  • Serve with ice cream and toasted nuts or coconut
  • Swirl through double cream and raspberries then freeze to make a Semi Freddo
  • Or just hide in the pantry and eat it with a spoon

Given the ingredients are very fresh, it is best to use this up quickly. Enjoy!

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 4 Pancakes (homemade or store bought)
  • Sprinkles or Fresh Fruit to serve (optional)
  • 1 Avocado, peeled and deseeded
  • 2 tsps Cacao Powder
  • 3 tbsps Rice Malt Syrup

Method

  1. Blend together the avocado, cacao powder and rice malt syrup until it is beautifully smooth.
  2. Coat each pancake with the Rice Malt Syrup Chocolate Sauce and then layer on top of each other to create a stack.
  3. Top with sprinkles - or fresh fruit is delicious too.
  4. You can also add candles if there is a birthday in the house!

  • Brown Rice syrup or Rice Malt syrup is a very simple refined sugar with little nutritional value. While BRS definitely qualifies as empty calories, this is not the worst of it. These empty calories, unfortunately, come with a killer sidekick – arsenic. Studies show that modern brown rice syrup keeps nearly all the arsenic in brown rice, but little else
