Chocolate Popcorn is a super quick snack that is great for lunchboxes … or of course family movie night!  Add a handful of Maltesers or chopped up Mars Bars for even more chocolatey fun.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1/4 Cup Popcorn
  • 2 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 2 Tablespoons Icing Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

Method

  1. Add the Olive Oil to a deep pot and put on the heat until extremely hot.
  2. Add Popcorn and then pop the lid on. Maksure you jiggle the pan around constantly to ensure popcorn doesn’t burn and all kernals pop.
  3. Once all the kernels are popped remove from heat. Using a sifter or strainer add the cocoa and icing sugar and sprinkle over popcorn ensuring you coat it all evenly. You can add more cocoa and icing sugar if necessary.

  • I never thought to put cocoa dusting over popcorn. What a fabulous idea. Thanks for sharing this idea.

  • I love this with a little salt and cinnamon but next time I make popcorn I’m going to try this instead! Yum. I also use a $4 popcorn maker for the microwave from Kmart, highly recommend so you don’t have to use oil ????

  • I wonder if they would allow this at school. They seem to be stopping a lot of what we would call healthy snacks these days.
