A very easy and tasty corned beef recipe. Ready to cook in seconds!

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1.25 L Schweppes dry ginger ale (2 bottles if beef is over 2.5kg)
  • 2.5kg Corn beef (silverside)

Method

  1. Add dry ginger ale to a large pot, add corn beef. Or add all ingredients into slow cooker.
  2. Allow to simmer on low for approx 3 hours or until tender. The slower and longer the more flavour in the meat (if in slow cooker, add on low for 6 -8 hours)
  3. Serve with vegies of your choice and white sauce.

  • That’s next level genius! Great way to infuse some flavour into corn beef

  • Oh how I’ve been doing it wrong! Aghh.. that’s it I’m heading out to buy Ginger Ale asap. We love Corned Silverside beef especially with veggies in Pressure cooker, 25mins later. You have a lovely winter meal :)

  • I’m another person who would not have thought to pair a silverside with dry ginger ale. It might be my go to tonight for dinner.

  • Have not had this in years, really need to make it again. Love the idea it being cooked in a slow cooker as I was cooking on the stove.

  • Always cook my silverside this way. Love how it softens the meat and adds an impact to the taste.

  • What does the dry ginger ale do? Never heard of using it. Opposed to using water, Does it add flavour?

    • The flavour is so good. My hubby hated sliverside until he tried it the way l cook it and now we have it so often.
The ale soaks through the meat giving a great taste.

  • I love Ginger Ale. It’s the only soft drink I buy a couple of times a year. And I never ever used it in cooking. This is something to try for sure!!
