Delicious and really simple, this chocolate self saucing pudding will satisfy everyone!

Ingredients (makes 1 Large pudding (approx 10 serves))

  • 4oz Butter
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 cups SR flour
  • 4 dessert spoons Good quality cocoa
  • FOR THE TOPPING
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 dessert spoons Good quality cocoa
  • 4 cups Boiling water

Method

  1. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until combined and pale.
  3. Add in the eggs and mix until combined
  4. Add in the flour and cocoa alternating with the milk until all mixed in
  5. Pour into a greased large baking dish, and sprinkle with the cocoa and sugar topping
  6. Very carefully and slowly pour the water over the top
  7. Bake in the oven for 35 – 40 minutes or until the cake is cooked. It will still be ‘wobbly’ as there will be sauce under it, but the cake will be cooked when its ready

Notes

We love this simple and tasty dessert in my family. Its best eaten warm/hot but the next day after its been in the fridge overnight with some cream is pretty good too! That is if there is any leftovers!!

  • Mum used to make this every 2 weeks in Winter. So yummy.

  • I have always loved self saucing puddings but haven’t had them in a long time. I didn’t realise how easy they were to make. I’ll be able to make them myself now that I know how easy they are.
