A quick and easy sausage roll recipe, that only uses 5 ingredients.

Ingredients (makes 32 sausage rolls)

  • 500g Sausage Mince
  • 300g Beef Mince
  • 1/3 cup Plain Flour
  • 1/2 cup Satay Sauce (I use Fountain)
  • 2 teaspoons Light Soy Sauce
  • 4 sheets Ready Puff Pastry
  • 2 tablespoons Milk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees c. Place sausage mince, beef mince, flour and satay sauce in a bowl and mix until combined.
  2. Cut each pastry sheet in half. Divide meat filling into 8 portions and roll into sausage shape. Place along long side of pastry and roll up to encase filling.
  3. Cut each pastry roll into 4 pieces. Make 2 slits in top of each roll and brush with milk. Place rolls on lightly greased/lined tray.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 180C and cook for a further 15 minutes or until golden. Serve with your favourite sauce.

Notes

These sausage rolls can be frozen and reheated. They are a favourite in my house and don't last long.

  • My friend is throwing a party in a couple weeks. I’m so taking these along!

  • Most of my vegetarian. I make sometimes vegetarian sausage rolls with quorn mince and funny enough I often use a sunflower spread (so they also have a satay like taste) so they are suitable for the lunch boxes. for those with a nut allergy, a sunflower spread is easily made by roasting sunflower seed and blending them with a bit of salt and raw vanilla powder, but you can buy them at the health food store as well.

  • I am wondering why you need to add the flour to the sausage meat. Is it to absorb some of the moisture? You could cheat and add grated carrot into the mixture. I recently tasted a sausage roll with finely grated carrot and they were the best!!! I am not a fan of sausage rolls which I confess I had a second one.
