A sausage roll with a bit of heat. Just in time for Australia Day


Ingredients (serves 6 | makes 24 Sausage rolls)

  • 500gms Sausage mince
  • 1 carrot Grated
  • 1 onion Finely chopped
  • 4 big Mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 3 heaped tsps Chilli sauce
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • 3 sheets Frozen puff pastry

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients together, except the pastry
  2. Defrost the pastry and cut in half
  3. Divide mixture into 1/4s. Place a 1/4 along the length of each pastry sheet, in the middle.
  4. Careful roll up and cut into portions
  5. Place on greased oven tray. Cook in a preheated oven at 220*C for 15 mins. Reduce heat to 190*C and cook a further 15-20 mins until nicely browned

  • I like the addition of spice to the recipe.

  • I love the addition of chilli sauce, that makes it a winner in my books … not keen on mushrooms though so will probably leave them out. Look delicious and I will definitely try them!
