Winter pea and ham soup, great for the soul.


Ingredients (serves 4 | makes 1 large pot )

  • 1 Litre Vegetable Stock
  • 2 Medium Potatoes
  • 2 Medium Carrots
  • 2 Celery Sticks
  • 250g Prepackaged Ham Hock Meat
  • 250g Split Peas (dried)
  • 2 Cups Frozen Peas

Method

  1. Peel and chop carrots and potatoes, slice celery.
  2. Add chopped/sliced vegies, stock and dried peas to saucepan.
  3. Bring to boil and then simmer till peas and potatoes start to breakdown, add ham and simmer for 3-4 mins.
  4. Use a stab blender with soup attachment to blend. Alt you could use a blender.
  5. Serve with garnish and enjoy.

  • Pea and ham soup is a soup I crave and this recipe is terrific.

  • I love Pea and Ham soup but I never thought to add frozen peas as well. I love to change the recipe around so it’s not the exact same taste every time. I would make it summer, winter, spring and autumn if I was able but can’t always get the ham hocks or ham bones.

  • Yum. This looks great. The pea and ham soup I make is the only soup my kids actually like. Pumpkin and tomato they prefer the tin version – I need better recipes for these. Thanks for sharing this.
