We have more broken crayons than useable crayons in our house right now, but I’ve found a great way to put them to a good use!

Next time you discover broken or unused crayons, don’t throw them out, recycle them for gifts!

Make your own shaped crayons

What you’ll need:

  • Crayons
  • Silicone baking mould

Method:

  1. Sort out all your old crayons and peel off the paper if required.
  2. Pack your broken bits of crayon into your silicone baking moulds.
  3. Place your tray in your oven and turn your oven to 100 degrees celsius.
  4. Keep checking and once they have melted, remove from the oven and leave to cool.
  5. Once cooled completely, pop out your new crayons and they are ready to gift, or use.

These would make cute gifts for the class or as a party favour and a great way to use up unwanted crayons.

Thanks so much for sharing. I remember having all these short crayons when I was a kid going into the bin but this idea is such a good one to help reduce waste.

  • This is such a cool idea. I don’t have a lot of crayons in my house at the moment. The boys are older and my daughter is to young for crayons.
