Oily mess no more!
My husband’s family is Italian, and my family is Australian so we cook a wide range of foods.
One of the hardest things to clean is our homemade tomato pasta sauce. We cook it it in a large frypan, store it in plastic containers, and eat it over pasta with lots of pecorino cheese! All of which creates lots of mess, without even considering all the utensils needed for the preparation. The sauce contains fresh tomatoes and LOTS of olive oil so it really stains everything and leaves all dishes with an oily residue. Often we will hand wash containers and dishes twice just to get them clean!
After making a double batch of sauce this week we decided to put the Kitchenmaid DW6030 through its paces. We loaded it up with all of the oily and tomato stained dishes – it was full to the brim! We used the intensive wash – which is described as: Pre-wash(50degrees), wash (60degrees), rinse, rinse, rinse (70degrees), drying. It’s running time is 175 minutes, using 1.5Kwh of energy and 19L of water.
Well, I can say I was completely impressed with the results! After the 175 minute intensive cycle there were no stains or residue to be seen. Obviously I will be making better use of my time and won’t be hand washing any tomato sauce dishes in the near future!
