Serena Williams reached out to her 7 million followers on social media for advice on how she can ease baby Alexis Olympia’s teething pain.

Sharing a gorgeous pic of baby Alexis, Serena wrote, “Teething- aka the devil – is so hard. Poor Alexis Olympia has been so uncomfortable. She cried so much (she never cries) I had to hold her until she fell asleep. I’ve tried amber beads… cold towels…. chew on mommies fingers…. homeopathic water (lol on that one) but nothing is working. It’s breaking my heart. I almost need my mom to come and hold me to sleep cause I’m so stressed. Help? Anyone??”

What teething tips would you suggest for Serena?

  • Bonjela and a large toothing ring – didn’t like using cold ones so just a large plastic ring that couldn’t break or be swallowed, and rusks – baby gets fed as well as easing the teeth.

  • There’s a natural product on the market called ‘Infant’s Friend’ which is supposed to help with teething pain as well as wind pain. I used it for wind pain when my son was little and it worked wonders so if it is as good for teething as it was for wind it’d be a Godsend.
You can also use Bonjela which is what we used for our daughter. If the pain is really severe you can also use Baby Panadol.

  • I used Bonjella with Panadol to tell them sleep through the night. My kids didn’t suffer too badly with teething tho. I also had lots of chew toys on hand

  • Our kids detested frozen teething toys and weren’t too keen on them cold either. Teething Gel and sometimes also Baby Panadol seemed to work best for ours. One child is minus 2 front top teeth. Yes, she fell over and knocked both of them out.

  • Teething really does suck! The poor bus have no idea what is happening to them. I used bonjella and frozen face washers to help my little one’s teething pain. oh and panadol helped too when the pain got too much.

  • The first front teeth were nothing. They came in pretty late at about 10 months but the bottom two were a breeze and then he face planted when trying to walk a couple of weeks later and the bottom two went through his top gum and cut them and it was all over.

His molars however came in 4 at once for both sets and both times ended up in hospital. First time he picked up a nasty bug and had a sky high temp and second lot triggered a really bad asthma attack. The best advice I can give is to try and make sure abyyhing they chew on is clean.

  • I had some teething toys that I kept in the freezer and they seemed to help at some extent.

    • Exactly the same techniques for teething. :) It makes a difference to sore gums.
