Hello!

We’ve just come back from the movies and we were lucky enough to see the preview of the upcoming The Nutcracker And The Four Realms on the big screen. And all I can say is: “WOW!”

We’ve heard rumours that Disney’s new blockbuster isn’t going to resemble the sugary-sweet ballet that we know and love. And the trailers have certainly confirmed it. This is going to be an adventure on another level – with a hint of crazy, adventure and thrills in the bucket-loads.

So what do we know:

Helen Mirren, is the evil Mother Ginger, who rules over an army of mice and what look like devilish nesting dolls.
Keira Knightley stars as the Sugar Plum Fairy, who seems decidedly un-sugary and has a voice which is pretty disturbing. Yep, it looks like this movie is going to be dark.

The Story

The film tells the story of Clara (Mackenzie Foy), a young girl who must find a precious key. Clara’s journey begins with a long gold string that leads her to what she is looking for.

She lands up in an alternate universe where she meets a soldier (Jayden Fowora-Knight) who helps her travel through four realms.

The soldier helps guide her along her journey as she searches for the key. Along the way, she discovers a magical universe made up of four worlds. In the fourth realm, Clara comes up against Mother Ginger and her army of Nutcrackers and has to fight to save the four realms and find her key.

This dark twist on the classic tale looks similar to Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice In Wonderland and its sequel, Through The Looking Glass. Its gorgeous costumer and sets will surely be a winner with movie-goers this festive season.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms opens on 2 November 2018. We can’t wait!
