Hello!

I have three gorgeous sons ranging in age from 13 to 10 years old, and earlier this year was blessed with a beautiful baby girl to make our family complete. When I was a first time mum, dial-up internet at snail’s pace speed meant that there was very little “research” on baby things and this time around I’ve found such a wealth of information available at the click of a mouse that I’ve found it a bit overwhelming at times! For example I had to buy a pattern and the material to sew sleeping bags for my sons – these days I get an email telling me they’re the daily deal on baby bargain websites and probably cost less than the material + pattern + my time! I never knew about Sophie the giraffe – my little girl has one and loves it, while my sons made do with face-washers that had been wet and chilled in the freezer for a while.

I made as much of my son’s baby food as I could; having done a little bit of research I had put together a folder with recipes that were well used and when the time came for a friend to have her first baby, I lent it to her, hoping it would come in handy for her as well. I never asked for it back, but I wish I had because yet again times have changed and now when I search the internet for the baby’s egg-free vanilla custard recipe, I get bombarded with ads for ready-made baby food and lots of recipes that sadly just aren’t quite right. My older children all loved it as babies and even young toddlers and have asked me to make it for their sister (no doubt so they can have it again!) but I’m sad to say I don’t remember how to make it…… maybe it’s time to experiment in the kitchen and hope I get it right!

  • So funny! We would go anywhere without shoes on, climb trees, walk home from school without supervision (greater than just the street the school is on)…….

  • So much changes and even in a short period of time. My youngest is 3 years younger and so much has changed even in that time.
