Fast food chain Taco Bell has revealed 50 stores will be opening in Australia.

The popular Mexican restaurant will be launching a new store in Townsville, North Queensland, however no official date has been announced, shares Daily Mail.

This will be one of 50 stores set to open across multiple states in the next three years, confirmed franchisee Collins Foods.

The locations are yet to be revealed, however current stores in South East Queensland including Robina, North Lakes and Cleveland have proven to be a success.

In 2017, the company opened its first store in Annerley, Brisbane, which attracted large crowds of taco lovers.

‘We have had an overwhelming response to the launch of Taco Bell in Brisbane, and we know that the Australian market is hungry for more,’ Taco Bell Asia Pacific’s managing director Ankush Tuli said.

Collins Foods managing director Graham Maxwell said: ‘We have seen tremendous enthusiasm for the Taco Bell brand in Australia, and this is reflected in the continued strong performance of our Annerley restaurant.’

‘We believe in the significant growth potential of Taco Bell, and are pleased to have the strong confidence of Yum! Brands to grow Taco Bell’s presence across Queensland and into other markets.’

  • Oh man, hope they come to other states as well

  • I have been longing for Taco Bell for many years and been envious of the US for having it. Now we can try it ourselves, yay!

  • Love Taco Bell. Can’t wait to go to one near me…hopefully!

  • Oh yay, I love taco bell!!

  • I didn’t realize that we already had them here. I have no idea what they are like but might try them and see if they look good.

  • Sounds great, I’m sure it will be popular.

  • I’m not fussed either way. Taco Bill’s was huge when first hopened here, but I couldn’t tell you the last time I ate in one.

  • There were a few stores in Sydney years ago – they were attached to KFC! Was disappointed when they went away so this is exciting news :)

    • Yes. I remember those stores in Sydney, too, very close to where I lived. They didn’t last long, though, probably because Aussies weren’t familiar with tacos, or indeed, Mexican cuisine in general. I’m not into them, but think they’ll do better this time around because Aussies have developed a taste for all manner of cuisines.

  • I’ve heard mention of Taco Bell multiple times but never knew there was one in Australia. I’m sure people will flock there to try it.

  • Wow, would be great to try out. Heard of it but never been there.

  • Yessss! This is exciting I love Taco Bell!

  • Isn’t there enough mexican places, another fast food outlet to kill the small business owners. I use to go to a little mexican place years ago, they had only a few tables but did takeaway all genuine mexican from mexican people, I guess it is rare these days to find such a place because of fast food franchises imported from the USA to take over small business and not pay taxes.

  • Sorry this is another fast food chain I won’t be frequenting.

  • I would have thought that there are a lot of good mexican restaurants out there. I’ve never been to Taco Bell (so really shouldn’t judge) but I’m not sure I would go there over my local taco place

  • Hope they open one in Sydney we’re big taco fans can’t wait very exciting
