A 15-year-old boy has turned to Reddit to ask users for advice on how to get vaccinated without the consent of his anti-vaxx mother.

The boy – known only as Danny691261 – has been unsuccessfully trying to convince his mother that ‘vaccines are safe’ for the past four years.

In his state ‘minors’ are reportedly only able to give consent for the hepatitis B jab, with their parents having to sign off all other vaccines.

After questioning whether he could forge his mother’s signature, Reddit users were quick to warn the teen this is a crime.

Feeling he had exhausted his options, Danny signed off saying it looks like he is going to have to wait until he turns 18.

‘Danny’ said: ‘I am writing because I am the 15 year old son of an anti-vaccine parent.

‘I have spent the last 4 years trying to convince my mother that vaccines are safe. I haven’t succeeded.

‘So instead I am trying to research how to be vaccinated without my mother’s consent.’

Although he admitted his mother would be ‘livid’, he added there would be nothing she could to reverse the effects of the vaccine.

  • This sort of thing is so very difficult.
My daughter was friends with a girl who’s parents abnned her from eating animal products but she would always ask if she could have things like a burger from McD’s or Pizza with meat and cheese, etc. She was 16 and I simply told her that she could have what she wanted as long as she didnt srop me in it with he mother. If she had been someone with a health condition or allergies, etc then the answer would have been no but in this instance I felt it was wrong for the Mum to inflict her diet on the a6yr old. Funny thing is Mum had no problem with her daughter getting a job at McD’s 6mths later.

  • I would love to hear an update of his story and if the state granted him permission.

  • He should get in touch with social services anonymously if he wishes to find out what his options are. Maybe he thinks she is neglecting his well being. He’s thought about this a lot and his Mother should listen to how he feels and explain her reasoning why she doesn’t want this happening.

  • Could he get another adult – dad, grandma – to give permission?

  • This poor child. My understanding is that here in Victoria my son can make his own decisions from age 16. He clearly understands enough of life and society and vaccinations to be seeking it. There should be some opportunity for him to do this. What about his dad? Can he approve it?

  • I think a child of that age should be able to judge what medical treatment they want.
I hope the mother will give in to her anti vax idea, and let her son be immunised.

  • Poor kid. Clearly he’s old enough to make this decision for himself and his mother should respect that.

  • He may be researching but he is only getting one sided information pushed by big pharma, most of the information regarding the questioning of the safety of vaccines is being deleted off the media channels so it is hard to get balanced information on the risks associated with vaccines, so maybe his mum needs to discuss it further with him and they can both decide if it is worth the risk of the known side effects and why she feels so strong.

  • Hopefully his parents might see to what lengths he has gone to on Facebook or whatever other social media and allow their fairly soon to be adult child to decide for himself.

  • I think a child at that age should have the right to make their own decision in regards to vaccination. The state should take his request serious and grand him permission.

  • Hopefully hes able to find a way to what he wants.

  • It’s sad he needs to do this. I feel he should be given that right. It’s his body

  • I feel The child has more common sense than the mother. I hope he’s successful

  • I know USA sue for every little thing…but if this boy contracts a disease that he could have been protected from I hope he sues his parents. His Mum is neglecting him if he gets sick from one.

  • Forge her signature, get the jabs and don’t tell her that you did either. Win win.
