Hello!

Now this is a service all businesses need to take note!

A chemist in Hobart is offering customers a “drive through” type service.

The Davey Street Discount Pharmacy in Hobart has been advertising their services on social media.

“Do you have impaired mobility or small children in the car?

“Call us from the carpark and we will come and offer car door service! This can include prescription or over the counter products as well as advice from one of our pharmacists.

Simply pull into any of our convenient car parks and call us!”

Claire is a mum of 3 and wife of the Davey Street pharmacist (an independent Tassie pharmacy), she told Mouths of Mums “that as a mum of three children, two who have additional needs, she thinks it’s really important to ensure that we support members of our community that need that little bit of help. After all we all have days where things just aren’t going to plan!!”

Customers are thrilled!

One customer said all they need now is bread and milk. Well actually…

“Now we just need drive through bread and milk.” Davey Street Discount Pharmacy replied, Thanks, we have some yummy Ashgrove milk but we need to find a nice sourdough – any suggestions?

Others were just thrilled at the great service on offer….

“What a great idea. Will make it a lot easier for many.”

“This is the hero all parents with small children in the car need!”

“Fabulous idea!”

“Brilliant!”

“WOW! This is awesome!”

Now obviously this is not a service all chemists can offer, especially if they are situated in a big shopping centre. But for those stand alone chemists and other outlets like small specialty stores, they really need to consider adding this service for their customers.

Bring back good old fashioned service!

We shared recently the story of a Victoria cafe who came through for a tired mumma! Read more here.  If you know of any other businesses that offer similar great service, let us know!

Would you use this service often?

  • They have this in the US and its awesome if you have a sick child. You can drive through on your way home from the Docs and you dont ahve to get your kids out of the car.

  • Not for me, I enjoy popping in for a browse. I wonder how this is all going for them?

  • Yep I would love this. No central shopping centre where I live and I do have to drive to different parts of town depending on what I need. Seriously, the pharmacy isn’t even near any of the Drs. Would be good for those with social anxiety and disabilities too

  • Another good service was to be able to weigh your baby on proper baby scales, especially if you weren’t able to go to the appropriate facility to have this done. The pharmacy staff were trained and able to give you advise if you wished.

  • What a fantastic idea. It would be of a great benefit to a lot of people who have problems getting around

  • That’s awesome! Now they just need to do this in Launceston and I’ll be all set- perhaps Chemist Warehouse could consider offering this service as there are many of those that are stand alone.

  • Wow, a great service for one chemist to offer. Most of our chemists are in areas where it would not be so easy to just pull up out the front. They’re either in shopping centres or in areas where car parking is at a premium.

  • How good would it be if there was one in every area. I know I have days where getting sick kids in and out of the car is a nightmare

  • Fantastic idea ! Would come in handy for the aged and people with small children … or just if you are really sick and don’t want spread germs !

  • A good service, especially when one has a cold and doesn’t want to infect other people in the pharmacy.

  • This is amazing! How great when kids are sick, when mum is sick and can barely get dressed! Love that the staff come out to carpark. Should be more chemists offering this.
