Now this is a service all businesses need to take note!

A chemist in Hobart is offering customers a “drive through” type service.

The Davey Street Discount Pharmacy in Hobart has been advertising their services on social media.

“Do you have impaired mobility or small children in the car?

“Call us from the carpark and we will come and offer car door service! This can include prescription or over the counter products as well as advice from one of our pharmacists.

Simply pull into any of our convenient car parks and call us!”

Claire is a mum of 3 and wife of the Davey Street pharmacist (an independent Tassie pharmacy), she told Mouths of Mums “that as a mum of three children, two who have additional needs, she thinks it’s really important to ensure that we support members of our community that need that little bit of help. After all we all have days where things just aren’t going to plan!!”

Customers are thrilled!

One customer said all they need now is bread and milk. Well actually…

“Now we just need drive through bread and milk.” Davey Street Discount Pharmacy replied, Thanks, we have some yummy Ashgrove milk but we need to find a nice sourdough – any suggestions?

Others were just thrilled at the great service on offer….

“What a great idea. Will make it a lot easier for many.”

“This is the hero all parents with small children in the car need!”

“Fabulous idea!”

“WOW! This is awesome!”

Now obviously this is not a service all chemists can offer, especially if they are situated in a big shopping centre. But for those stand alone chemists and other outlets like small specialty stores, they really need to consider adding this service for their customers.

Bring back good old fashioned service!

We shared recently the story of a Victoria cafe who came through for a tired mumma! Read more here.  If you know of any other businesses that offer similar great service, let us know!

Would you use this service often?

  • Great idea, very helpful during sickness and for busy mums with young and or special needs children.

  • What a great idea , well done!

  • Our local Priceline will deliver at no charge. Brilliantly helpful with sick kids.

  • fab idea, there has been one in Melton for years, wish they were everywhere!

  • That will keep the chemist employees busy! I can see it being abused though, a great idea for those who need it

  • That’s beautiful. I don’t have any need for it now, but in the future… who knows? And it would be perfect for families with small kids indeed.

  • So simple but would really assist customers. My Gran needs assistance with shopping and no longer drives nor can take transport. She tried to get Homiped type of shoes in Dubbo and when they didn’t have them in her size someone from the chemist bought them to her door in a couple of sizes and got things sorted.
