It’s the picture you hope will last a lifetime, but what happens when it all goes horribly wrong…

Getting a photo with Santa is a memory most parents hope they will treasure long after their children are grown up. The combination of children, cameras, crowds and a strange man dressed in a red suit isn’t always a winner though. Here are some of our favourite Santa photo fails that we’re sure will end up hidden in the family album.

One Out Of Three Ain’t Bad

This family should just be happy at least one of their children got the memo that Christmas is meant to be a happy time of the year…

Santa Is So Done

This Santa is so over screaming children sitting on his knee that he doesn’t even try to smile for the camera. It must have been a long day…

Making A Run For It

This kid has had enough of the whole photo taking process and decided to make a run for it instead. His brother’s face really does say it all…

 The Ultimate Revenge

This little girl got the ultimate revenge on her parents by selecting a rather inappropriate gesture for her photo. At least her twin sister thinks it’s funny?

  • It always happens when littlies are frightened of a stranger dressed up in a suit with a beard – shouldn’t be amazing at all.

  • Hahaha, all of these made me laugh. Hindsight’s wonderful and we only tried for 2 years before we decided it wasn’t worth the angst.

  • Ha ha ha! They gave me a laugh, thank you.

  • Had this happen when my brother was about 18 months. I was with my best friend and we were having photos done with Santa. My brother wouldn’t stop screaming. Ended up me standing beside Santa and my friend sitting in front nursing my brother who, thankfully, put his hand over his mouth which covered his pacifier. As soon as we walked away he started screaming again because he wanted to go back to Santa.

  • More then one child is hard to get a good photo. With one child had to make sure he never saw Santa in the shopping centre, he was scared of the sight of him. My younger ones do not go to Santa at all any more, they can not understand how he is in all the shopping centres looking different. When told these are his helpers, I was told when the real one comes let them know.

  • The photos are funny but I understand how scary it must be for little kids. We teach them stranger danger but then expect them to sit on a random mans lap!

  • I think it is cruel and confusing to make a child have a photo with Santa when they don’t want to. What exactly are you trying to teach your child? “What’s that Timmy? You are trying to communicate to me that you don’t want to sit on a strange mans knee and have photos taken? You want to be the boss of your own body? No, too bad, I want a photo so you have to do it. That’s right Timmy, as you cry and reach for the safety of your parent, I will laugh or get frustrated and force you to do it anyway”

  • A couple of the photos are good. The others I wouldn’t have had taken.

  • We thought our youngest would do that this year but instead he sat on the chair in front of Santa, refused to look at him but at one point he rested his head (very briefly) on Santa’s leg, so fast we missed it with the camera that was ready for the perfect shot

  • When I see a kid crying like I see in some of those pictures, I get quite sad. No child should be forced to make a picture with Santa if he doesn’t want to. :-(

  • Haha, funny photos. We have never done Santa photos as my daughter has always been too scared.

  • I prefer not to take pictures or do anything else against the will of my kids.

    • Exactly! Who wants those photos as keepsakes!

  • I love the one of the kids hands in front of Santas face.
