The beloved Polly Waffle which was pulled from the shelves in 2009, much to the uproar of Aussies, is making a comeback. Find out when…

Early this year, South Australian confectioner Robern Menz announced it would be bringing back the Australian classic chocolate bar.

The fourth-generation family business wants to be entirely faithful to the brand – and is therefore building the equipment to get it exactly right.

Robern Menz CEO Phil Sims told 7NEWS, “Polly Waffle is a unique chocolate bar, and although it may sound simple enough – with its combination of chocolate, wafer and marshmallow – it actually requires a number of fairly complicated processes to create.”

Because the chocolate has been out of production for more than a decade, Robern Menz requires the custom-built machinery to bring the bar back to life, and its project team is working with experts worldwide to do this.

The Polly Waffle will be back on shelves in 2020.

“Technology has advanced significantly since Polly Waffle was first produced in Australia, so we want to thoroughly examine all options before selecting the best one,” Sims said.

“We know products like Polly Waffle and Violet Crumble carry emotional significance and we, therefore, have a responsibility to meet people’s expectations,” he said.

“We’re focusing a lot of energy and resource into ensuring Polly Waffle is as tasty as people remember and can’t wait to share it with the public soon.”

  • Have they taken them away again as I haven’t seen them around recently?!
I can’t remember what they taste like but would love to give it a go again years later from being a kid!

  • There was an announcement about this a few months ago. It also stated that the Polly Waffle will be gluten free, essential for those with Coelic Disease or wheat allergy. From memory the original ones were very sweet so I suspect these will be too.

  • This was so good to hear!i love Polly Waffles. I also want them to bring back the Violet Crumble, Scorched Peanut Bar and the Tripp Treat ice cream. My best friend and I often lament the loss of these iconic treats, as well as the Tosca bar. They were utterly delicious.

  • WOW! I can’t believe it’s been gone for 10 years. And I must admit, there’s nothing else like it, or even close to it, in the market. Mini sizes would be awesome too – in a share pack!!

  • No not excited, more unhealthy snacks is not needed in the supermarkets, there is way too much poison already.

  • I can almost taste it in my mouth. I so miss the “Polly Waffle” and wish it was sooner. A pity not allow to eat them due to what is in them. Will introduce my younger children to it though and let them try it for themselves.
