His daughter won’t be able to say that the dog ate her homework because he has trained it to make sure she does it!

A father in China has found a unique way to make sure his daughter does her homework without getting distracted. Mr Xu trained the family dog to watch over the teenager while she works to prevent her from reaching for her phone or going off task – we think the whole idea is genius!

Man’s Best Friend

The dad said that the family adopted the dog in 2016 and he had been training it ever since. “I have been training it since it was young and now it does whatever I tell it to do,” he said. “I pointed at the coffee table and told it to watch my daughter as she does her homework. It would then guard her and make sure she doesn’t reach for her phone.” The dog stands with its paws on the desk, leaning over the table and watching the girl while she works.

Parents often struggle to find time to sit down with their children and ensure they complete their homework, so this dad may have found the secret to multi-tasking! We’re pretty sure that this girl is guaranteed to become a cat person when she’s older though…

Do you think schools should set homework? Let us know in the comments!

  • Some homework is ok but they still need relaxation after a full day of school. I recall doing a good three to four hours of homework a night after school every night and I missed out on actually enjoying my time as a child/adolescent.

  • I’d forget the homework and play with the dog.

  • I don’t think homework hurt anybody. I do think some kids have too much and I think some kids are too young for homework. Bug in moderation for the older kids I think it’s great. PS I wonder what the dog does if the daughter dies reach for her phone or become distracted?
