Tiahleigh Palmer’s mother has never stopped fighting for justice.

Tiahleigh Palmer’s biological mother, Cindy Palmer, has spoken to the media for the first time since charges were laid over her daughters death.

Ms Palmer said she is “extremely upset”.

“I’m extremely upset that the people who were entrusted to look after my daughter were the very people who took her innocence and her spirit and her life,” Ms Palmer today said.

“The only comfort I can take from this situation is that they will never hurt another innocent child.

“My other three children will now grow up without their sister and she will forever be an angel.

“I miss my daughter terribly every day and a piece of my heart is missing.

She said she would ensure her daughter’s death would not be in vain and pleaded with the public and media to respect the judicial process.

“I will not let Tiahleigh’s death be in vain. The time has come to get justice for Tiahleigh and I ask everyone to let the judicial system work. Please refrain from speculating or spreading any information which may damage the case and all the hard work QLD police have done.”

She asks for the media to respect her privacy at this time. Via 9news.

Previous news on Tiahleigh’s mother

Cindy Palmer put on a brave face as she arrived at court on Wednesday morning following a breakthrough in the police investigation into the schoolgirl’s death, reports Daily Mail.

The 12-year-old’s foster father, Rick Thorburn, was charged with murder and interfering with a corpse. His son, Trent, was charged with incest.

When Tia vanished in October 2015, many believed she was just a troubled runaway. But Ms Palmer thought different.

‘That was horrible,’ she told reporters in March.

‘I felt like I was the only person apart from the police who really knew she wasn’t a runaway at that stage’.

‘We were doing everything we could to find her because it just didn’t feel right at the time.’

Ms Palmer was in and out of police custody and jail through 2011 and 2013, Daily Mail Australia reported last November.

Over the past year, Ms Palmer has devoted herself to finding her daughter, regularly speaking about her happy memories to raise awareness.

Despite reportedly telling friends to be patient with the police, Ms Palmer’s anger at the slow pace of the investigation boiled over in angry Facebook posts to supporters earlier this month.

‘Like seriously how hard is it? What are the police doing?’ she wrote to a 4,000-strong group of supporters.

‘I sit back and watch these other horrible murders solved and think, what about Tiahleigh???

‘Why is no one coming forward or speaking up about her! Does her life not matter. How can one little girl go so unnoticed?

‘This is not an attack on police in anyway but it is 2016 the amazing technology they have how can we not know anything!!!!’

In May Cyndi launched the “Justice 4 Tiahleigh” campaign, which saw buses plastered with images of Tiahleigh’s face, in a bid to raise awareness.

“To be honest, it’s getting harder, not easier,” Ms Palmer told reporters at the time. “I want answers for what happened to my daughter.”

Even though she has coped abuse and been trolled for her efforts, Cyndi never gave up the fight to bring Justice for Tiahleigh.

  • This Foster family would have also been being paid to have this young girl in their care. As they did not care for her and instead abused her and ended up murdering her they should also have to pay back all money that was given to them by the State for her care.

  • I am not giving any comment about her mum and her parenting but I do feel that there need to be much tighter checks etc on foster children …this poor angel should have been placed in care with a family that supply love, comfort and look out for her well being instead she was abused and raped this should never have happened and should NOT happen to another again.
    RIP sweet angel x

And rot in hell foster dad and son.

  • Maybe if her mum had been a responsible mother in the first place, her daughter wouldn’t have ended up in care. There obviously needs to be tighter vetting of prospective foster parents as this shouldnt have happened, foster families should be safe and trusted places. So very sad

  • Not a great scenario for any child to have to live through. At least justice seems to have been done.

  • I don’t think she should point the finger at police when she herself was in trouble with the law instead of being there for her daughter. I do however feel sorry for her loss. This poor child was hurt by the very adults in her life who should have been the ones to look after her.
